craig's voice is a little rough...otherwise a top notch performance of one of the best tunes off the new album.

I actually thought CF's voice was pretty good on Sweet Part there!? Singing rather than saying, with decent BVs too. Keys a bit more prominent in these two (esp Rock Problems), but wouldn't mind if they were turned up a bit more again.
Nice to see that even drummers like Mr. Drake get snare buzz!
Shame to see Galen squeexed out of sight at the back though, especially in such a fine shirt! I hope his usual live antics will be there on a bigger stage.

Craig's voice really is rough in these. I kind of like it against Rock Problems, but not so much in Sweet Part. His voice sounds good in Hurricane J, though, I think. Also, I will never get tired of how awkward he looks on stage. It makes me giggle.
And... backing vocals in Hurricane J. Did those sound really awkward to anyone else?

From 2nd chorus on in Hurricane J Craig sounded amazing. Once he starts letting loose and stops acting like a proper singer is when the magic happens.

And... backing vocals in Hurricane J. Did those sound really awkward to anyone else? The 'Woah oh's? I think they have sounded weird in every performance I've seen of HJ. It's because it's Tad, not Franz I like the keys in the beginning though. I know it's a small stage, but did they have to hide Galen completely behind Steve?

I hope they do Barely Breathing. It's my favourite off HIW but they don't seem to do it live regularly

pitchfork.com/tv/#/episode/2733-the-hold-steady/4We Can Get Together today. Really, really, really awesome. One of my favorite tracks off the new album and they nailed it. Thankfully they cut to more shots of Galen in this one, since his bass lines are the best part of the album version. My favorite part is during the solo: a close-up of Craig who turns to Steve and Galen with this great smirk on his face. These guys just have so much damn fun.

This only seemed to "fill out" when Koob starts the SG solo.
I like this keyboard player - someone turn him up!

It's because it's Tad, not Franz Yeah, the woah-ohs. I don't remember them ever being so off-sounding, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention as much before? Also, loving "We Can Get Together". (I am resisting the urge to type in all-caps fangirling the video. It's my favorite song off the album and makes me ridiculously happy, okay? XD )
