1. eat something, a little something, before that holiday party 2. don't talk to your boss when you are drunk 3. ladies, don't wear those tights that are loose in the waistband and keep hiking them up all night 4. fellas, leave the trainers at home, get some dress shoes ( no crocs do not count) 5. no, that sweater with the holly on it, it is not a good idea, not even this week. 6. teachers DO NOT want coffee mugs. no matter how cute you think they are. what do you think thrift stores are for? 7. gift cards are always a good idea. classy. especially gas cards. no matter how small. 8. yes, mint candy canes do work as breath freshners, take one if offered. 9.be careful with the art of regifting. do not take it lightly. you MUST know who it came form originally. it is sure disaster if it goes to the original giver, and even worse if the original giver is in the room. 10. those little weinies ( cocktail franks) they do give you gas, so take a 'fake smoke' break if the need arises.
happy holidays y'all please feel free to share and give more advice i know nothing of Kwanzaa or Hanuakah traditions

offer to help out with the cooking and the set-up. maximum brownie points, good bonding time, and the family drama is (almost) never in the kitchen. also, you can probably get away with skipping the dish-washing portion of the day in order to indulge your food coma, have another bourbon, play with your new external hard drive, and tell your cousins about this band you like . . .

You can just as easily put beer in the snow as in the fridge, leaving more room for the Roast Beast.

never show up empty handed, no matter how casual the holiday get together. the line between cheesy and cute shifts far over during the holidays. don't be afraid of a little kitch.

If the party's hitting a little lull, don't be afraid to whip out the microwave and soap.
I'd suggest a colored bar of soap for the holidays. Festive is good.

My bro and I cooked Christmas dinner last year. Most relaxed Christmas EVER! Plus my mum thought it was cool to not be in the kitchen. AND I didn't have to wash up, which is a bonus (I loathe washing up). And it seemed to impress people outside the family - "wow, your 20something children can cook! How amazing!"
