So I downloaded Pizza Deliverance to see what the fuss with DBT was all about.
Listened to the album in the car. I was intrigued by the first track. 9 Bullets came on and I had one of those moments where you go "this song will change my life" similar to the first time listening to Killer Parties. Uncle Frank and Too Much Sex are also being loved by me.
I havn't really progressed properly past 6 tracks because I keep playing them over and over. But this happens whenever I find a life changing album

Ended kind of medical.

A few days I picked up Southern Rock Opera.
Now I love this band.

So far the only ones I don't particularly care for are Gangstabilly and A Blessing And A Curse--just can't get into them. Phenomenal rock band though, and absolutely perfect tourmates for THS.

Evan Evan Evan......you must learn to love Gangstabilly......it does have a very different feel but it will grow on you. you just need to see Steve Mcqueen or Buttholeville live.. Blessing is my least favorite. i'm not sure what it is.....there just wasn't that killer song..... i really am glad that the tour has got a lot more of the US checking out DBT...... if it wasn't for that tour, i wouldn't have run into Brendan and wouldn't be here.......

How is the fictional band "BETAMAX GUILOTINE" if in "Road Cases" he talks about them saying "Drive-By Truckers" or "DBT?"

Good question. Patterson wrote that so you'd need to ask him . My guess is the band in "Act I" is Betamax Guillotine and the band in "Act II" when he makes it big is DBT.

Actually, yeah, I just re-read that page and he says:
"Act II opens; present day, in some alternate universe. Our hero is now fronting his ultimate dream band and they are about to take the stage. All of his trials and tribulations have just made him stronger."

Yeah for real. They opened with Days of Graduation in Pittsburgh and I was pumped. "You could still hear Freebird playing on the radio....you know its a very very very very loooong song."

I think Gravity's Gone and A World of Hurt are amazing songs, but it's definitely their weakest album overall.

Does any band have better artwork than DBT. It has such a glorious style.

i like the albums, but the performance for me was so-so. five alive told me they were having an off night, and told me not to judge them from that night.

The first 2 or 3 songs i thought were pretty amazing...after that it was still good, but not what i was expecting. I hope they come through LA soon for a headlining show.

I got really into a couple of their albums after the concert, unfortunately to discover that Isbell is by far my favorite writer among the three.

check out Jason if you get the chance. he puts on a good show. he does most of his debut cd, some new tracks, anywhere between 4 - 8 of his truckers songs, some covers.....and sometimes a sustained wall of noise toward the end of the show....
i will be seeing him for the 4th time this year on 12/27. so between 4 DBT shows and for Jason shows....it's like i got to see a lot of DBT this year.....

Love them, one of my favourite bands nowadays... I would've killed to catch the DBT/THS tour I prefer Hood and Cooley overall to Isbell but The Day John Henry Died is among my favourite DBT songs and Isbell's solo album is great (I'm listening to it now).
