And why?
I know there's a bunch of us who do it-
I started mine when I quit MySpace a couple of years ago but have since morphed it into a Hold Steady/Harrisburg Government Corruption/Surreptitious-Messages-To-Crushes-Via-YouTube-Videos-I-Post-Place/Personal Agenda Advancing site.

www.obviatemedia.netIt was originally, in concept - a webzine I developed that never came to fruitition. I launched it on Valentine's Day, 2006. After kind of toiling as a weird blog - in June 2007, we tried it for about a month to turn into a webzine but it didn't really pan out. Evan from this board has written for it multiple times. What I wrote about it on our 'about' section: by definition, obviate means 'to anticipate and prevent or make unnecessary'. the common misconception is that obviate media is about one thing. it's not. it's whatever you want it to be. this is designed as a community for those who want to showcase their their opinions, talents and eccentricities. that's the irony of the 'obviate' name. we're making the unnecessary necessary.
I invite anyone who wants to write for it to do so.

I got snared in '04 by a pal who wanted me to try it for a time - she swore I'd do better at keeping up with pals. It's kind of a lie, I keep up with different pals now, the pals I had trouble keeping in communication with, I still do - but it's been awesome for my friends who live crazy overseas lives - they can drop in and catch up when they need to. People who want personalized stuff from me are still largely out of luck.

I used to. I stopped about a year ago. My Thursday night dinner crew is contemplating a blog about our dinners, what we make, eat, drink, etc.

i had a blog for about two days. it was about the same time i signed up for the THS messageboard (hotpink4ever); so, oddly enough, i think john dill was the only person who ever read it. it was a good concept, i think. all of the posts were going to be "imaginary letters to real people." and i was going to revive the lost art of letter-writing in the electronic world by blogging carefully-crafted missives to people (some famous, some not) to whom i really have something to say.
then i realized i didn't have the energy to make it any good, and my second or third post read less like a carefully-crafted letter than a hot-headed blog entry fired off with 2 seconds of though. deleted it less than a week later. i may revive it someday.

Eh, I'm all over the place. Some of it is to keep in contact with old friends, some is to rant about my daily life. My livejournal is a good mix of my personality. xD

And, I killed this thread apparently. Sorry.

I've been attempting to blog since I heard the word on a PBS documentary (really). In high school, it was a mixture of Blogger and Xanga. Xanga was incredibly popular during the tail-end of my high school years for some reason. Currently, I muse about random things in two spots: www.mog.com/watchbatteries for music discussion and analysis, and at consumergradevideo.tumblr.com for random sorts of things.

The other night my roommate and I went through and read all our old livejournal and xanga entries from middle school/early high school. I forgot how completely serious that shit was.
I no longer blog, but there were some pretty epic livejournal dramas back in the day.
actually it all started in 6th grade in Mr. Brown's english class in the computer lab with teenopendiary.com.... I can't remember my username for the life of me, but there are probably some gems on there. Actually, I don't think the site even exists anymore.

I blog.
Some of it is personal, some of it is global. For the most part, it's spiritual. (I amuse myself causing people to determine whether I'm speaking globally or personally in my blogs. Each time they think it's one, most times it's the other...tee hee...)
I try to look at my own life, find the errors of my ways and compare that to friends' lives. If there are parallels, I compare that to world events in terms of energy. If all three have parallels, I then look for potential lessons to be learned. Once lessons are uncovered, I apply those globally. If those lessons hold water, I apply them to friends. If that holds water, I apply it personally.
I look inwardly and compare outwardly. Introspection turns expansive. Then I go back to introspection. Huh....interesting now that I'm actually looking at it. I guess it's the same with that habit of adding digits that I have...I add everything then divide it exactly in half over and over until I end up with a single digit. I start from a single still point, expand, then end with a different still point. Huh...that's interesting....I might blog about that!
Then again, I haven't blogged about anything significant in some time with any consistency. Now, I blog when the mood strikes me. But the pattern is the same in order to actually get me to blog something. (I feel like a kook right now but screw it. no one's going to think any worse of me than they already do!).
