Has anybody picked up this disc yet? "Now We Can See" by the Thermals?
I am a fan of all of their work, and I've been anticipating this album since I started digesting the simplistic depths of, "The Body, The Blood, The Machine". (TB,TB,TB probably has one of the coolest album covers ever...)
Let me hear what you think.

Sounds like Bsides from TBTBTM. Okay album, but not amazing.

Sounds like Bsides from TBTBTM. Okay album, but not amazing. I agree it's a good album but not nearly as good as TBTBTM. It sounds very very similar in a lot of places to the last record, not an entirely bad thing...i think i was just hoping for a little more progression.

I like it, but not as much as TBTBTM. The title track is a great sing-a-long song, though.

Good album, agreed that it's not as good at TBTBTM. But still solid overall. And Now We Can See (the song) has been blasted in my car many times since it was released.

Good album, feels like there's something bigger coming on the next record. Just kind of warming up for it...

It sounds very very similar in a lot of places to the last record, not an entirely bad thing...i think i was just hoping for a little more progression. I wouldn't say it sounds like b-sides, I think it's a lot more poppy and accessible. It's definitely the same band, but then again, TBTBTM was clearly the same band as on Fuckin A, which was clearly the same band on More Parts Per Million. I think they just consistently clean up their sound and get a little better and writing songs. The biggest development is that they've started using more chords in their songs--on that first album, it was very, very simplistic; this is still very minimal, but it's got some more complex progressions and arrangements. I love this album. I think it's my favorite of theirs yet.

I'm gonna be in NYC Tuesday so I'll miss the show in Philly that night. The album sounds great played loud in the car with the windows down, sunroof open, sun shining...

the thermals are playing in leeds soon, but i got a text about it from someone who i specifically am not interested in seeing (former friend who still hopes there's a possibility we'll patch things up. there isn't) so i think i'll be staying at home. shame, what with uk headlining tours being so few and far between for them, but at least i've seen them before.
