I love getting up in the morning and checking the weather to see how warm it might be in the club that evening, grabbing a couple of t shirts and yeah, probably some shorts cause I wont be home for a couple of nights. Check the ticket's make sure todays the day. Should I bring a camera or not? Probably should, definitely want to record some of the mayhem. Shoes, of course now it will be forever known as what "nerd shoes" to pick thanks to that Napier fellow. Something comfortable but not crushable. Something you dont mind sticking to the floor or throwing up on. Lyrics running through your head, things you hope to hear, things you HAVE to hear...the thump, thump thump in Hoodrat, Pills and Powders baby, powders and pills. That electric feeling running through your body. You look over at the clock and think , "how many more hours?" until the boys walk out on stage. I always love hearing Tad and Franz noodle a little and the slap of Galens's bass and a little roll from Bobby and then Craig, all hyperkinetic energy "Hey, we're The hold Steady" And its on. I hate that its not time yet.

that's a great glimpse into the psyche of a THS fan waiting for showtime.been there.
for me though, and maybe it's because i'm getting old,i don't think much about the music beforehand.it's probably terrible to say this but i pretty much totally take it for granted that THS is going to rock any club show they play where they headline.so,mostly before the show/roadtrip i usually think about all the cool people i'm going to see that i don't otherwise get to spend time with.some of them are people i've met AT the shows, some are people i've known my whole life.but that is what i anticipate most after having been to this many shows.we're all there for the music once it starts, but it's all the characters and personalities that i truly anticipate

people touching people that they dont even know. Funny, three years ago at Valentines, it seemed like there were 1000 people there but when you looked at the pictures it was more like 60. This time I would like it to be 60, but its gonna be more like 1000.

If they press 350 into that place, some people are gonna be REAL good friends whether they like it or not.
