Does anyone know anything about the choice of amplifiers Tad and Craig use? The Epiphone Blues Classic looks cool and sounds as good as amps costing a lot more, but they are made in China and not made for the road. Are they really playing through those or (like another band who shall go nameless) are they fronting the boutique amps while playing through Fender DeVilles kept backstage? I'm just curious.

I'm pretty goddamn positive they actually use them.
Tad's extolled the virtues of the Blues Custom to me before. And frankly, I agree. They sound fucking fantastic. But he's also running: (2?) Silvertone Heads, the custom "BOB-AMP", and a Super reverb, and occasionally the Park.

The Epiphones are fucking bulletproof. We had two of them take a fall off of a riser at a festival in Scotland last summer and the chassis broke into pieces but after nailing them back together they work as good as new. They run off of 6L6's or EL34's. We use the EL34's in Tad's amps and the 6L6's in Craig's. I think right now the band owns seven of them. One is on loan to John Neff from the Drive By Truckers. He played it last fall when we toured together and fell in love with it. Two for Tad and one for Craig in both the UK and the US. They get played every single night and we've NEVER had any problems with them. I wish I could say the same for the Silvertones.
Right now Tad is running four amps at a time. The pedalboard has stereo output but the whole rig is mono unless he's using the panned delay. There's an Epiphone and another amp on the left and the other Epiphone and another amp on the right. Most of his sound is the two Epiphones.
