so i wasted 45 minutes yesterday while my shrink basically told me to STAY POSITIVE and i was thinking that repeating that mantra is a decent way to combat yr general low level anxiety i mean its no subsituite for real treatment but a year ago if anybody mentioned anything positive to me i'd snarl at them but now the idea is in my head so yeah... THS as a mantra/therepy thing. think about it!

My friend whose little girl is in the hospital right now told me "even though I'm crying I'm going to stay positive."
Yes, I gave her the album (well, all of them) recently.

I've (prior to THS) been basing my whole life on positivity. And it's been going extremely sick, and I can cope with everything easier.
But THS remains as a HUGE encouragement to keep it up.
Lord, I'm Encouraged.

awesome! how do you base your life on positivity tho? i've always based it on negativity, and now that i'm in a country with sunshine and happy people (minus His Dark Prince Nick Cave, of course) i'm even more pushed to be negative... how do you not do that?

I'm not sure it's so much about being positive all the time, but rather about leaving room for there to be something other than negativity. If you say, "It's always like this," or "I never get that," you don't leave room for a different outcome. It's all in your skull, man.
edit: another way to say that is, "we make our own movies."

'stay positive' gets me through the day. i went through a phase of writing it on my hand, just to remind me not to stress out and to take it all a step at a time. it's not about being positive the whole time, but dealing with the shit that comes your way without getting the blues. might start doing it again after this week...

the only thing i managed to build was a range of surreal memories involving accordions, tea & vodka (probably worse than it sounds), a ill-concieved holiday, the misplacing of large sums of money and the best campfire you ever did see You're in Oz, i take it? i know nothing about the place, apart from the fact i once saw Nick Cave shopping for cheap records in my local record store, and i didn't say hi....*sniff*

Sorry, I haven't been on here for a while. I agree with everything missalabamanobody said. I just base my life on the concept that life revolves around being happy and making other people happy (with Christian beliefs). I mean, what's the point of being engulfed in negativity when you can stay positive. Ever since I've pushed myself to become positive in everything I feel as though I get over horrible events so much easier.
