I'm so fucking embarrassed that I'm just discovering this record right now.
Pistolero?
I'm so fucking late to the game it's disgusting.
I have no idea how it wound up on my iPod but I'm just hitting it for the second time now.
Fuck.
What a great record.

Frank Black's producing the new Art Brut record, according to a link on The Daily Swarm (thedailyswarm.com). Get pumped.

Check out "Teenager of the Year" if you haven't already. That's his best, imho.

get them all. each album has enough good tracks to justify buying them.

Frank Black's solo career has been a bugger to keep up with as the man is so prolific, most of the albums have been patchy but as johnk said, they are all worth buying. Quite pleased there is unlikely to be anymore Pixies albums as I'd be more than happy to see them do "greatest hits" tours every now and again to remind us of how great they are and not shit on their legacy.

Johnny Barleycorn from Fast Man,Raider Man is one of my favorites. And there is a tribute to Otis Blackwell album where he does Breathless that just fucking kills.

I haven't missed a Frank Black tour since the Pixies broke up, re-formed and broke up again. I agree with anyone who said all of his solo work is worthy of purchase. If you can't, the next best thing would be the compilation, 93-03. It's a 33 track 2-cd set. A link to all things Black Francis. www.blackfrancis.net/

Bluefinger was the best album of last year.
If you like the Catholics material, Dog in the Sand is fantastic.

Seeing the Pixies live again a couple of years back was a moment for me right up there with seeing The Who and THS. I've got time for a lot of Francis tracks. Love the Amps, The Breeders and all the 4AD connected bands.
But I must be honest, he hasn't made a decent album yet. They're all too long. Westerburg suffers from a similar Quality Control problem, except 14 Songs is awesome.

That's funny, because my favorite work from him is the short ep he did for Hello Recording Club. Maybe it is a length issue.

Yo soy un pistolero!
I love that album, especially Western Star, I Love Your Brain, and You're Such A Wire.
It's hard for me to fathom a set of lyrics greater than this:
Now he's headed skyward Standing up on piles on plywood And all he thinks about is how he Looks like Heroes-period Bowie
And his figure blocks the light And he takes away the night And he's dancing to the new bolero
Yo soy un pistolero! I'm not shaking in my boots I'm ruler of this moon, boy So if you move I shoots.
