Tha It's Tha. Tha Carter III. ThE is for THE Carter Family Example: "Lil Wayne, whose 'Tha Carter III,' was nominated for 8 Grammy Awards, was upstaged last night by a giant ladybug in sunglasses." Why exactly didn't we drink together last week? I am so ashamed that I should make such a foolish error. A full correction will be printed in the morning edition and a sizeable donation of sizzurp will be made to all offended parties. It's my understanding that we didn't drink together because you dropped the ball, son...

Let it Be - The Replacements I was going to say Hootenanny. Let It Be never feels that punk to me.

several of these mentioned are hardly punk bands, christopher cross not included
seriously though, it depends on your definition of punk
i saw the talking heads, the replacements, husker du, the tubes, fugazi ... all in the mid-80's
i don't remember any of us describing them as "punk bands" or thinking, "we are seeing a punk band tonight"
i thought of the ramones and the clash and the sex pistols as "punk"
the last i remember throwing "punk" around was for the "cow-punk" stuff i still love ::
rank & file, the beat farmers, jason and the scorchers, the blasters, the rave-ups, etc
so, maybe my response is "there has not been a punk album since" ... at least as i define it
twist my arm and i might pick los lobos "how will the wolf survive?"
it had rockers, traditional mexican songs, blues, political songs, strings and accordion jams
in 1984, it was hard to digest at first but it still sounds fresh today
kinda like "london calling" ... isn't that what it is about? standing the test of time?

i thought all music aspired to stand the test of time. however some artist can't honestly believe that of their music. punk, at least to me, is anti pop. with possible political undertones, and everyman ideals. more a state of mind, than just fast, loud music.

i think of it more as loud fast music. i mean the Ramones were basically 50s rock and pop turned up to 11

Los Lobos are a fantastic band who have never really bowed to commercial expectations- even the La Bamba soundtrack seems to be more for the love of Ritchie Valens' music than for a paycheck- and have maintained an integrity that would make St. Joe proud. Plus, they turned up in a grammar textbook I used in seventh grade. No kidding- best diagramming assignment ever.

Let It Be by The Replacements is probably the best, but I don't think of it as a "punk" album (I don't consider London Calling a punk album either though). I'd say Guitar Romantic by The Exploding Hearts but I've probably forgotten lots of stuff.
