How good is Franz’s new single?! What a wonderful surprise. The vibe on this is so cool. The keys, the horns, his voice, that other guy on lead guitar, just wow. What does everyone else think?

I'm undecided mate. I went straight to YouTube after watching the video to watch as many Captain Pugwash episodes as I could find though.

I’ve been watching Captain Pugwash episodes on YouTube since this! First time I’ve boarded the Black Pig since the early 80’s mate!! Surprised there’s no call backs on Stranger Things. Not that I’ve ever watched it.

I'm looking forward to Muzzle putting together an every Franz song list? 🤔.....Perhaps not....that may a bridge too far for any list maker? I look forward to more Franz offerings based on this one. 👍

I have spent way less time with Franz' solo records than I should have, but went back to Do The Struggle the other day, and it sounded different than what I thought it did. Way better too. Maybe in a few years time, when I've had the time to really take it all in. That said, I've had some really nice moments with Franz solo. In 2009 I went to End Of The Road to see (what turned out to be) the last European show of Franz' first spell with Hold Steady. Later that same night, he played an amazing solo set in a tent at the festival site. I've also seen him solo in Copenhagen, supporting Mark Eitzel, and that was a massive blast. He played the part of the long-gone troubadour so well, going from accordion to banjo to guitar, with his stamping feet replacing the rhythm seection. It felt special. I've also spent a lot of time with Major General, back when it came out, that St. Sebastian Of The Short Stage EP too. So there's definitely things to dig into there.

I like 'Garlic and Vine' as much, if not more than the first single from New River. Looking forward to its release next month.
One thing that's slightly irritating to me is that however good the album might turn out to be is the fact(?)that it'll receive little to no exposure. It would be nice if Jimmy Fallon or Seth Myers ( who's reportedly a fan of THS and just had Craig on this week) would give Franz a guest spot. Jools Holland in the UK also would be nice. Who knows, one of all of them things or something similar might be in the works? I hope it is but I doubt it.

Just listened to the record and it’s great. Hope we get some live dates. Friday or Saturday in the Ballroom would be tremendous but as always I’m happy to travel.

Finally getting a chance to dig into this and it has a little bit of Mountain Goats vibe to it. Not a bad thing at all. Enjoying it so far.

Really enjoying it (except for It's Dawn - too jazzy for me - my problem!).
First-Person Spectacular = T-Shirt Tux!!
