I'm not exactly a local, and I'm not going this year, but I would recommend Greenpoint Beer & Ale. A five minute (at most) walk fron Brooklyn Bowl, plenty of seating, good food and great beer.

My friends and I always meet at The Whiskey - it's right down the block from Brooklyn Bowl, has decent bar food, good beer selection, and (as the name implies) a great menu of different whiskeys. The basement has a bunch of different bar games set up - shuffle board, skeeball, etc. Or if you're getting there a little earlier, Brooklyn Brewery is literally right around the corner from the venue and has a pretty great tasting room (I recommend the Sorachi Ace Saison).

If you're taking the L train and are getting off at Bedford stop, The Charleston is also a good dive/hang. Skee ball in the back too.

To get an overview of Williamsburg/Greenpoint, you can check out these maps: brooklynnow.com/williamsburg/index.htmlbrooklynnow.com/greenpoint/index.htmlThere's Lake Street in Greenpoint, of course. Closer to the venue, there's Zablozki's, Teddy's, Sweetwater, Kent Ale House, etc. Lot's of streets to explore- Bedford, N 6th, N 3rd, and Grand all have stuff in W'burg, while Manhattan Ave, Nassau, Franklin, and Greenpoint are some of Greenpoint's most populated streets, restaurant/bar-wise.

Coming from out of town...first trip to brooklyn. Where should a group go pre show for good bar scene? You may want to check out www.lakestreetbar.com/Lake Street Bar in the nearby neighborhood of Greenpoint. It's a half a mile away. Hold Steady drummer opening Lake Street bar in Brooklyn
Dispatches from a bar called Lake Street, a Brooklyn home for Minnesota expats Friday, January 19, 2018 by Kris Liakos in Music www.citypages.com/music/dispatches-from-a-bar-called-lake-street-a-brooklyn-home-for-minnesota-expats/470148673I don't know how long you are staying. But you can take a Ferry from Manhattan to the show. It's a cool way to see NYC from the water. Also if you don't mind the cold walking over the Williamsburg or Brooklyn Bridge is cool
