Man, those old pink boards are sweet and a little bittersweet to see again.
JerseyMike: "Hopped over to MySpace--liked what I heard".
Personally, I did not feel nostalgic much at all last week. I just felt like I was seeing the greatest bar band in the world back in their element.

Hi Joe! holy shit. there goes my morning. all the old names Right? Often wonder if those that devoted so much time to a band and a message board still carry their love for the band today or if life happens and it was just a chapter that is closed.

Damn, happy those old pink boards are still preserved. Wasn't there also another iteration between those and this forum?

Yeah those screenshots were taken from Wayback Machine.
The forum itself does not exist, only snapshots and snippets of what once was.

Only been on board 9 years... but this made me nostalgicferatu:
""motörben 09-03-2006, 06:15 PM Haha, this is a like a support group. Excellent. My name is Ben and I am also addicted to The Hold Steady. I first heard them when I saw them open for Les Savy Fav in London in summer 2004, I bought 'Almost Killed Me' without hesitation and haven't looked back. I've since obsessively gobbled up everything they've put out and talked about them to the point where a strong majority of my friends are also falling in love with the 'Stead."
Made good friends with ben after bumping into him and Ros on the UK BAGIA tour once or thrice! Great times.
Remember the UK music mags seriously falling for them after the Jools Holland appearance. Two live tracks on Word Magazine sampler (Stuck Between Stations/Chips Ahoy). Multiple sightings on 6music. Festivals. Tours. MANCHESTER. Awesome.

Yeah I really felt an affinity towards the band pretty much right away, and BAGIA was going to be the best thing ever. I remember seeing them in August of 06, 2 days after they played Lolla for the first time. Craig talked about how Koob looked way diffrent on the big screen at the stage then he does in this dingy bar they were playing. 2 months later I'm in Key West and texting my buddy on the morning of the album release telling him "NEW HOLD STEADY ALBUM TODAY". Other than him, I had no one really to bask in the greatness with, so this place afforded me that luxury.

Not much for nostalgia but feeling it after Brooklyn as well. THS is the first band my wife and I got into together when we started dating, on a recommendation from a friend: "SPIN calls 'em Thin Lizzy & the E Street Band, you gotta check 'em out!" BAGIA had just come out and we were both in love after the first run through Stations. Haven't met too many people at the shows due to my wife's crippling social anxiety but always encountered friendly folks from the scene. Don't have the money to travel to as many as we'd like but have been to about 12 or 13 and aside from Springsteen, they're the best live show we've ever seen.
THS and this community have also allowed me to make some fantastic new friends in Stringer and alexondrums. Stringer and I organized our own co-headlining tour throughout the UK & Ireland last year and shared a date in Manchester with Alex's band Mountain Song. One of the best weeks of my life. I owe so much to THS & the Unified Scene.

Those pink boards! It was death to my eyes watching them for more than five minutes.
Good times, though. I can't remember when I registered, but it must have been early 2007. I remember posting some reports from the show at Hove Festival (still to be found in full at YouTube, with a shot stolen from the national norwegian broadcaster - don't tell em), and I'm pretty sure I was the only board member there.
Sadly there's never been enough THS fans in Norway to constitute a community. But finding that board online, was a great substitute.

OH MY GOD I AM SUCH A DORK:
"i'm heidi, and i probably would have called myself one of the rare female hold steady fans at one point, but i think it's becoming more common. sweet. i go to college about 90 miles north of NYC, and i started listening to the hold steady after two of my bearded and overzealous boys i know repeatedly requested them on my radio show. eventually, i relented, and boy am i glad i did. i think the first song i ever played was "stevie nix."
since then, i've become a little bit of a fangirl ... seeing them at irving plaza in october basically changed my life. i've seen them in concert 4 times in the past few months ... that number will soon jump to 6.
i got the chance to interview craig and tad for my mag (tinymixtapes.com) and ever since i've just been floored by how freaking cool each member of this band is. nicest dudes ever, honestly. the shows snap me out of moods, no matter how bad.
i can sum up how i feel about this band in the immortal words of tad kubler (the doors? empire records? anyone?), "people are realizing ... 'hey, wait a second! rock'n'roll isn't a guilty pleasure!'""
