Hi guys, and happy new year.
One of the Pledge options we had for Faith in the Future was Craig recording a personalised voice message that we could use as a personal greeting on a mobile/cell phone, etc. (http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/craigfinn)
Mine arrived before Christmas, and I love it.
I have Craig's message as the greeting on my mobile phone in case I don't answer a call.
I used the usual method of playing back the recording of Craig's message and then recording the voicemail by holding my phone up to the speaker. That's fine, but what I'm wondering is whether anyone has any experience of using an MP3 or some other file as the personal greeting on a phone. If that were possible, the audio quality of the personal greeting would be a lot higher.
I've searched online quite a bit but not found anything particularly useful.
Anyone? :¬)

Hey jonah --- I've never done what you describe, but I feel bad that you haven't been able to get it to work, and I'm pretty certain that these things are doable. Could you start by saying what kind of phone you have? Different phones/OSes will have different ways of doing this, and knowing what you're trying to load to will narrow down the hunt for instructions quite a lot.

Hey :¬)
My phone is a Samsung, so Android OS. I'm in the UK on the Vodafone network.
No worries, though, because this seems to be something that has been bizarrely overlooked in the phone world :¬) My lower-sound-quality version will have to do, and actually it's pretty awesome because after all it's a personalised message from Craig!!! :¬D

Wow, it looks like you're right, I'm surprised. I'd seen a number of guides for doing it with iPhones (at least with certain providers), and with Google Voice, and I just assumed it was a matter of loading the right file to the right place in the right format. But it seems that if the provider doesn't support file upload, there's not much you can do.
Like you say though, it shouldn't matter much --- sound quality might not be absolutely perfect, but people are going to get the message. Enjoy!
