Can anyone comment on the sound quality of BaGIA, especially as compared to the previous pressings by Sabot?

If you're looking for either in the Baltimore area, I was amazed to find copies of both BAGIA and HIW RSD pressings at Tunes on Loch Raven Blvd. The BAGIA is the white copy.
They also had copies of the Slim Dunlap, if you're into the Twin Cities scene...

how many different colors did they press for these? HIW is red. BAGIA were purple and white - I can't speak for the purple copies, but my white copy was clearly labeled as such.

I've seen that most of the records on Ebay have a sticker, but mine (purple) didn't have one.

Not in NYC but it looks like they might have a copy here if you'll get it shipped. I'm not sure if I trust the store's online stock so you might want to call before ordering: www.gotocdworld.com/and then scroll down to an orangey box that says 'login/signup' and put in your email and makeup a password. and click login/signup. Then go to 'new vinyl listing' on the left hand side, then click 'H' and scroll down to the Hold Steady and select boys and girls in america.

I'm such fun at parties.

Sadly the reissues haven't shown up at record stores in Vancouver, I took a look on that turntablelab site above but the shipping price is insane. Any other options?

Yeah, shipping to Canada from turntablelab is just silly. And how is priority shipping cheaper than economy? $30 or $40. for a $20 record.

Yeah, I'm in Vancouver too (and also disappointed that none came in). The upside is that if you live here, there's a pretty decent chance that you know someone who has a post office box across the border (or you know someone who knows someone). So I had mine shipped domestic US and will get it next time the box holders go to the US. If the box was my own, I'd totally offer to let you use it.

In the largest town in Norway, there is one single record shop participating in RSD. They got two copies of Boys And Girls, and as I said, I got one of them (no sticker). As usual I've been heading online to catch the white one and Heaven Is Whenever. With shipping, they cost me $50 each.
I really hope the obvious demand for Hold Steady on vinyl makes Vagrant do another round, so that all you guys looking for the records will be able to catch a copy.

Can anyone comment on the sound quality of BaGIA, especially as compared to the previous pressings by Sabot? Bumping this inquiry. Can anyone respond? I've got a Sabot copy and I'm not too pleased with it so I'm debating whether or not to grab an RSD copy? Thanks.

I also have a Sabot copy and it sounds really dull and lifeless...which is especially bad for a punchy record like Boys and Girls. Anyone actually listen to the RSD version yet?

I don't have the Sabot pressing, but I have Stay Positive, HIW and Teeth Dreams.
My two cents? Best Hold Steady has sounded on vinyl. Not overdriven or too bright. Worth picking up.

Both my copies of BAGIA sound great I have a Sabot (blue) listened to only 4-5 times from me (bought it sealed) and a White copy of the 180G version from RSD.

I'm also in Canada seeking a BAGIA. If anyone knows of a store online that has them, please let me know (turntable is now sold out). I can ship to a US address as my brother lives down there.

I'm playing the purple one right now, and I think it sounds better than both the clear and the black pressings. But to be fair, I've never enjoyed Hold Steady that much on vinyl. I think it sounds a bit thin and sharp. Where other bands and other releases sometimes gain a lot on vinyl, I've never found the differences between CD/digital/vinyl of Hold Steady releases to tip in favour of vinyl. That being said, this pressing sounds really good. A lot clearer and warmer than the previous ones.
