ok, weird question, but 12 hours at work (with, what feels like, no end in sight) the mind began to wander What is everyone's style? I'm sure the band would say that all were welcome, but do you find there is a particular look to the unified scene? As I say, I am very bored

Oh, and jeans with flip flops just to wind-up Stringer.

I would say it's more of an aura. I observed some fans claim their spot in front of the stage between bands, a 30 minute interval, before Hold Steady took stage in philly. it wasn't their duds that i remember, it was their intensity, and intelligence that stood out.

I dunno I'm 26 and a hip hop kid. I sag, rock flat brims and sneakers. I never felt excluded at a THS show, but I did feel like I stood out.

Really? It's the clothes that define the man? how precocious. I say it's a glance, a stance. A grin, a sin. A lean, a scene. A busted move, A weekapaug groove. you could be stone cold naked and still channel the Hold Steady. I don't know how it gets in your body. the bottom of your feet on up threw your bones? like accupunksure? but it bounces inside you and defines you. you have been enlightened and YOU are part of the Hold Steady for life. what ever quirk or limp or twitch, is a riff you surfed, and a power chord wound you stitched.

Cords, slip ons and button ups mostly for myself. The set at XPN this summer was my favorite rock moment of my year. The weather and atmosphere was just perfect.

Cargos, plaid flannel, recently started using safety pins as shirt decoration, walking boots or really beat up old sneakers. I have the fashion sense of an angsty teenager from 20 years ago. (Well, I guess the angsty teenager isn't even off by miles, but that's a minor detail)
