I make a summer road trip mix every year and I'm looking for some fresh tunes. Nothing too obvious; I've probably used them all already (Constructive Summer, Born to Run, etc). What do ya got?

Only just seen this. Sorry!
OK - summer songs...
My three favourite summer albums would be:
Bruce - The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle The Thrills - So Much for the City The Magic Numbers eponymous first album
Also good for summer driving:
Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen in Love Undertones - Teenage Kicks Dr Feelgood - Roxette Clash - Train in Vain Dwight Twilley - Looking for the Magic Eddie & the Hotrods - Do Anything you Want to Do The Only Ones - Another Girl Another Planet Tom Petty - American Girl Thin Lizzy - Boys are Back Bruce - Glory Days / Darlington County Cars - Just What I Needed / Best Friend's Girl Dan Hartman - I Can Dream About You Hall & Oates - Can't Go for That De La Soul - Say No Go (or whole 3 Feet High and Rising Album) Phil Collins / Phil Bailey - Easy Lover Van Halen - Jump / Why Cant This be Love Fleetwood Mac - Second Hand News
Lots of steering wheel drumming there.
Maybe for quiet warm evening drives:
The Band - King Harvest Led Zep - Going to Calfornia Neil Young Harvest Moon / on the Beach Thin Lizzy - Dancing in the Moonlight Don Henley - Boys of Summer Van Morrison - Coney Island / Into the Mystic
I could go on.
And on.

Only just seen this. Sorry! Heh, no worries Delboy. Just ribbing everyone a bit. Some great picks there, several have been on previous summer mixes. We listen to a lot of the same tunes. Did I see on here at one point you're a pal of Stringer's? I'm working on booking a UK tour for us for next spring (really just a jaunt - a week or so). I'd love to meet you as well and hang out a bit!

Sounds good to me! Let me know when?!
Yes, the other founder member of the Unified Scene Swansea Chapter has now jumped ship to London!
He's a very talented artist and musician, a great friend and an all round good guy.
I occasionally try to distract him with drum noises!

Manic Street Preachers - Motorcycle Emptiness The Doors - L.A Woman Gaslight Anthem - Old White Lincoln Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds - Cuttin The Rug, Shuffle It All Tommy Stinson - Not A Moment Too Soon Captain Beefheart - Zig Zag Wanderer Dylan - Tombstone Blues The Libertines - Don't Look Back Into The Sun
I find anything by Little Richard tends to work great on a sunny day, that might just be me though. And delboydrums, definitely agree on 3 Feet High and Rising.

The Magic Numbers eponymous first album Oh wow. I listened to this a ton the year it came out (2005? 2006?) and have since sort of forgotten about it. Really good record.

Great band - lovely happy, mellow music. Nice bunch of people too, if you get the chance to meet them - very happy hippies! I've seen em four or five times and they never disappoint! They've tended to have some decent support to, like David Kitt or the excellent Goldheart Assembly. Their other albums are nice enough - not quite up to their debut, but more of the same. They have a new record out this month too!

Archie Powell & The Exports - Metronome I've yet to come across anyone else who knows AP&TE. Went and saw them on a whim a few years ago, on a Sunday at a small brewpub in central PA during the Skip Work tour. They played for about 10 people (including the bartender and waitresses) and played like they were in front of 1000. Great guys too, chatted with them a bit afterward. Some great tunes, and quite a few new ones I'd never heard. Thanks everyone! Delboy - looks like I'll be there from March 27 - April 2 next year. Got a few dates booked: Fri 3/27 - London - Rise 46 Sat 3/28 - Hoping Stringer will come up with something in Swansea, I'd love to spend a day there Sun 3/29 - Saundersfoot - Terrace Café Bar Wed 4/2 - Dublin - Velocoustic @ the Black Sheep Got a few days off between the Sunday and Wed shows, will probably bum around and do some sightseeing, eating and drinking. Maybe taking a ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare on Monday and a train to Dublin from there, who knows. Would love to meet and hang with anyone who's around!

I'll check out the new one -- thanks for the heads up!

Skip Work and Great Ideas in Action are both terrific. I'm not as sold on Back in Black yet, but it's got some keepers. I'd love to see them live at some point.

put almost all of these suggestions into a spotify playlist for myself, but might as well share.
