Not sure if it qualifies but Waits' Nighthawks at the Diner is a great album. Not a concert per se but recorded live in studio with an audience if I'm not mistaken.

I have an incredible soft spot for From Here To Eternity, the Clash live record.
Lollapalooza 2007 is the undisputed best Hold Steady bootleg.

I've gotta go with Etta James' "Rocks the House". I've never heard anything like it.
Also, this album kinda sucks but if you can find it, Iggy Pop's "Metalic KO" is worth a listen. He pisses off a biker gang and they come to the show solely to beat him up. You can actually hear eggs hit the stage. After he threatens them with a 55 minute version of "Louie, Louie" he says something like, "You can throw all the eggs that you want but at the end of the night your girl will still wish she was with me". A klassic rock moment!

The Barenaked Ladies- Rock Specticle. High energy, big crowd, great music. What more could you ask for in a live album?

Lollapalooza 2007 is the undisputed best Hold Steady bootleg. No question. First round knockout. This is the truth. Band on fire.

One More From The Road by Lynyrd Skynyrd is also a classic live album. The versions of Gimme Three Steps, Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird are scratched into our souls.

I would say the VU were the first punk band.

gimme a year. Not a fan of either. Just noticing that the person who wins the arm-wrestling contest gets to decide history. Would like HISTORY to decide history.... Just sayin'...

VU were a much better band, and isnt that what really matters in the end?

Better? I'm not really down with that. Both bands kind of sucked...to me, that is.

i'm way more into weirdo art rock than straight up rock n roll, so i'm sticking with VU!

I'm a bit surprised that no one has mentioned "Live at Leeds" by the horrible Who.....as Roger Daltrey used to call them They are on fire!!

I'm a bit surprised that no one has mentioned "Live at Leeds" by the horrible Who.....as Roger Daltrey used to call them They are on fire!! It's a bit of a holy grail record. I think it's hard to get into. My Dad would sulk if he heard me say that as it played all through my childhood. The expanded version is better but still. It doesn't feel very inviting to me. And I love The Who

Rock of Ages by the Band the 66' live Bootleg by Bob Dylan Weld by Neil Young and Crazy Horse Sam Cooke at the Harlem Sq Club <-- Unreal. The '66 Dylan "Bootleg Series" is fantastic for the historical value of hearing someone yell "Judas" and Dylan's response 'You're a liar". "Weld" is quite good as well. I also like the second disc "Arc".

"Arc" is wonderful. i tend to really like Neil's trips into total weirdness. like that super long jam he released a few years back, riffing on "Cortez the Killer" with Crazy Horse. or his take on "Hey Hey My My" with Devo.
i like the 66 bootleg series a lot, but i tend to go back to the 64 set more. the 66 set has a lot of great songs, but i prefer the studio recordings of those songs. i'll take the 64 set over the studio versions of all of those songs (except maybe the few that ended up on BIABH)

Wilco:: Kicking Television and Nirvana :: Live at Reading. The Nirvana record has just been knocking me out over the last year or so.
