According to the magazine website, it appears they're reviewing the new album in the new issue. I believe Uncut are quite fond of the band

Just a bit! Didn't they lay on THS at a magazine party and include two live tracks (Stations and Chips) on a CD sampler? It's an absolute full-blown romance!
Shame Word magazine folded, dark days without that mag. THS would've got a favourable in there for sure... Still, there's Michael Hann at the guardian who'll give it five stars!

sounds like he needs to get on that. He's a big fan by all accounts, perhaps that's why he hasn't I suppose.

My dad's copy of uncut arrived today, and he told me about The Hold Steady review in it(as he is aware of my love for the band and my anticipation for their new album, and also I typicall give the magazine a read). It got 8/10, which is very good rating for an Uncut review. There is no longer an album of the month, however Teeth Dreams got the opening page and the few following pages on the album review section, this is where album of the month typically is. All albums after this are reviewed in alphabetical order. If someone could tell me an easy way to put up photos of the review and if there's interest I'll put them up asap. And the song on the CD is 'I hope this whole thing didn't frighten you'. Please ask if anymore questions!
P.S. I'd heard about the 'Unified Scene' fan base before, but only registered today after reading the review.
Edit: Teeth Dreams did get album of the month! It stated this elsewhere in the magazine.

Promising review, though it only places the album within a familiar history of the band, and doesn't really suggest what it achieves on its own terms. Still, this seems to confirm Teeth Dreams is a good Hold Steady album, even if it would take something pretty dire to turn off a publication like Uncut with their classic rock leanings! I'm curious what indie trend-setters like Pitchfork, Paste, Tiny Mix Tapes, or the Quietus, all of which tend to feature more impressionistic material, make of the album. I recall Heaven is Whenever received a lukewarm review in Pitchfork.

THS was already Pitchfork's favorites during the SS/BAGIA era. This one will probably get a 7.5ish, hailed as "a return to form after the listless HiW, but still lacking the urgency of the band's best work."

Can anyone give us the scores from Uncut for all the previous albums they have reviewed? Thanks.

Assume after you get a couple of 10/10's and release 5 records the bar gets raised?

When did Uncut change their rating system? BaGiA and SP got 5/5 (which translates to 10/10 on Metacritic). Don't remember if HiW got 4/5 or 8/10. It's not a big deal, but I guess it's a lot harder to get a 10 on the new system, than getting a 5 on the old scale.

Didn't buy it, but I stood and read all 3 pages in Sainsbury's. It made me proud.

To call a Hold Steady song "Gaslight Anthem-ish" is close to... I don't know what it's close to, but it's just wrong.

My point was that to say that Hold Steady sounds like Gaslight Anthem, is kind of like saying Hold Steady sounds like Hold Steady.
