Well, I made it into the preshow... Then got kicked out for drinking underage. I'm in the Lake Street right now, just waiting. Total bummer. I travelled 4,000 miles and never got into the show. Aw Eric that's a nightmare. So sorry for you.

Amazing amazing amazing show. Gotta be the longest I've ever seen them play. The only song I really wanted to hear that didn't get played was Banging Camp, but I mean god that set just killed. And met some people outside the show that got the Phish reference on my t-shirt. Wasn't expecting that hah

I think I Have confetti actually in my eyes, cause I'm seeing stars. May be the best show I have ever seen them do.....ranks up there with the infamous Stone Pony show. They were having a blast. Craig was ridiculously interactive with the crowd and Tad was just killer all night long.

amazing, everyone. I woke up with my stomach bruised and sore from being pushed into the stage the entire show, my legs are covered in bruises, and there's confetti EVERYWHERE. two thumbs up.

Officially a 2 hour and 16 minutes show.
Which is about the same amount of sleep I got last night afterwards.
Rock'n'roll problems.

You did good. If you don't get kicked out of a Hold Steady show every once in awhile you aren't doing it right. I remember they kicked Tad out of a show once. You're in good company. We've all been there.

that was utterly brilliant. Certain songs - amazinfversion of it.
knuckles !
Awesome people - beers, dancing, drinking, tears, confetti, we crushed those brews, the mother lode of THS posters at the merch stall (I got a boys and girls poster which is a delight).
And we'll do it all again tonight.

I didn't think any show would be able to match that Stone Pony show from '07. This did it.

One of the most amazing things was seeing Howard drink a glass of something called Fireball which from the label appeared to be some sort of cinnamon whiskey. It hurt my stomach to look at it. It was great seeing old friends and making new ones. SMJ...hope you are hurting as much as me....cause you are older than I am right? ~smirk.

They need to play Certain Songs every night. Sounds amazing. yeah ...if thats the benchmark this was equal or surpassed it. The only thing that may bring the pony above it was The Horns, the low stage, the heat in the middle of a blizzard, and Franz.

also shout out to Wyatt. I do not know you but he came out and saved me when my ticket turned out to be fake. I owe you a beer/juicebox.
This show was pretty incredible. Felt just like 2007/2008 all over again, haven't gotten that wiley at a THS show in a long long time. So many hugs, so many friends. I miss you all!!!

Nights Go On Forever, indeed.
Now that I've caught up on sleep, ate some food and gotten the confetti out of every nook and cranny I can take stock of last night.
Last night was massive in pretty much every way. The show, as I have already mentioned, was my 59th. It was also by far I've ever attended, the longest clocking in at two hours and fifteen minutes.
I pledged for the anniversary show ticket which was the impetus of flying out to New York in the first place. In my history of shows, this is actually the first time I've flown out to a THS show.
It felt like a a real Unified Scene reunion last night. It had been quite some time since I'd seen a lot of old board members and friends I've made throughout the years. Lots of hugs and smiles. I also met Howard! That was great. The jams were solid and the band sounds razor sharp. Multiple encores. Confetti during Hoodrat and Killer Parties. Thanks, Camie. We're all still finding it everywhere.
I love the sound of the new songs live. "Spinners" sounds great: "Heartbreak hurts, but you can dance it off". Fantastic.
"Almost Everything" is what everyone else says it is. Reminds me of "First Night", sort of.
"Frighten You" is beastly. Wait till that one gets worn in.
This show was really different. The band was far more interactive than they have been on previous tours. Lots of shaking hands, reaching out. Pretty great. Craig also made a pretty good joke at my expense during "You Can Make Him Like You".
It was a night of renewal and reunion. After the last album and the small number of shows peppered throughout the last few years, I wondered if that unique spirit would stay in tact. I am happy to report it's alive and well.
It's no secret The Hold Steady has been phenomenally important to me throughout my years as a fan. I'm happy they're back. They're happy they're back. Get ready, cause it's just getting started.
Stay positive, everyone.
