Is there any way I can get the digital version without pledging for an exclusive? Yes, for $5. Just click the Pledge Now button under the video, not any of the exclusives on the right side.

I think it was established that Steve picked the KISS song. Anybody want to take a stab at the rest? "I'll take Soul Asylum for $1000 Alex" Who is ____? Actually, I think Steve might have picked the Those Bastard Souls cover. According to wikipedia, Steve was in another band with David Shouse, lead singer of Those Bastard Souls: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Those_Bastard_Souls I'm guessing Craig picked "Closer to the Stars" just based on the fact that Soul Asylum are from Minneapolis. I have no idea about the other ones. Anyone else got any guesses?

I'm loving how the songs I don't know feel like THS originals. Hard Luck Woman has a great feel and moves pretty far from the Kiss original but Closer To The Stars is the stand out for me. My love of Soul Asylum in my college years came flooding back, and that guitar solo... Brilliant stuff.
Another lousy record sleeve for the band though. I hope this ones sort of purposefully bad. It's like a Sub Pop tribute or a nod to Green River and Mother Love Bone... Comes off very Citizen Dick though.
Rags! Sailors only daughter! Sing along now!

Only just got time to listen:
They did a Dr. Feelgood track! I wonder who picked that? Marvellous.
Essex boy Wilko will be delighted! Another Game of Thrones connection!
I think I vaguely remember hearing Soul Asylum, Closer to the Stars before, but THS have made it sound like one of their own.
Hard Luck Woman - so that's what the "Rags" title was for! Maybe Bobby should have sung it in homage to Peter Criss's Rod Stewart impression! ! This version really rocks, especially into the solo, and Craig is sounding sweet with those BVs.
I haven't heard Willie Nelson sing "I gotta get drunk" in maybe 20 years! Another killer solo (or solos?), another great THS drinking song:
"There's so many good people in this town"!!
I must admit that I don't think I've ever heard "the last thing I ever wanted was to show up and blow your mind" before. Just checked out the original; thought it sounded very Jeff Buckley - read some more about it and found out why!
ALL of this is sounding so damn good - but Mr. Kubler and Mr. Selvidge are on some fine form.

I can't stand kiss but I love what they did with that song. Totally made it their own.

Finally back from work, and got my headphones on. Great tracks! And since we talked about production in another thread: This shit sound just beautiful. Clear, fresh, crisp and hard. Love it.

I'm confused about how you all heard about this - did you get an email? I pledged for the EP & 10th Anniversary show but I haven't heard anything since. Also, am I to assume I'm on the guestlist for the concert?

Well, hey. Rock and roll music means well and all, but that Willie cover makes me think that an outlaw country album would be outstanding...
(I do like the whole EP very much, for the record.)

And shiny.) Anyone else catch that "if you have anything you want to hear, send us an email" notation in the update. Ha! Nice. Looking forward to this show more and more each day. Wooooooo!

Hmmm. Anyone else end up with six songs when they downloaded this?
I don't want to ruin the surprise, so I won't mention what the song was. Maybe it wasn't actually part of this but somehow it popped up when I was saving RAGS into media player. (Yes, windows media player.)

Are there liner notes? Don't know who sang all the originals.

"All Through the City" - Dr. Feelgood "Closer to the Stars" - Soul Asylum "Hard Luck Woman" - KISS "I Gotta Get Drunk" - Willie Nelson "The Last Thing I Ever Wanted Was to Show Up and Blow Your Mind" - Those Bastards Souls Still looking for someone to take some hacks at which band member picked which song. (The KISS one is Steve's ... confirmed)

Only ended up with the 5 as well.
First impression: It's really solid and an enjoyable tie-over until Teeth Dreams comes out. I really like the music overall better than the originals. And as for the vocals...well, I'd listen to Craig read the dictionary, so that was never a question. Even though I really love how they played the songs, I'm a little underwhelmed with the song selections themselves, which was half the excitement in the anticipation (and also, I guess, one of the risks you take when putting out a cover EP: the listener's previous relationship with the song will cause some bias). That's not to say I necessarily dislike the selections, it just doesn't really hit the spot for me. I'm indifferent in that regard. With the exception of I Gotta Get Drunk (which is both an awesome song and the standout track on RAGS by a landslide--I can't stop listening to it!) and Hard Luck Woman (the only song choice I actively didn't like).

I have no idea whose idea the Billy Squier Christmas song was and I have a fuzzy memory of that maybe being this mysterious "6th song" folks are seeing somehow. Maybe? I don't know.
