I liked Heaven Is Whenever. A lot. In many ways I prefer it over Stay Positive. I think their first three is straight 10/10 records, and both Stay Positive and Heaven Is Whenever deserves a 9/10. But this belongs in another thread.
No, I don't think this will be the last Hold Steady album. As mentioned earlier, I feel the band itself is in a process of reinventing and rebuilding themselves, and that this process is filled with a lot of joy, excitement and expectations. It seems like they are just as stoked as us, and that they're more than ready to make 2014 a year that really counts. And it would be weird to kick off this whole RAGS thing, the Unified Scene project and everything connected to it if this wasn't a fresh start, but rather the beginning og the end.
Difficult to say what comes next, but I see another release down the road.

I think we'd be hard pressed to find a band that has stayed together for a decade and not faced some uncertainty about moving forward. these things are natural among relationships like this, so I wouldn't worry too much. Besides, from the looks and sounds of everything they're putting forward and saying about this record, it looks like they've gotten through whatever it was, are stronger for it, and are ready to rock this thing for the foreseeable future.
