I know that Season 3 of GoT premiered last night... anyone know if THS' tune was heard? no, it wasn't on Sunday's episode.

Episode 7 is called "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" so my guess is that is when the song will be on the show

It's going to be in the last scene of this Sunday's episode. Watch out for it!

I love Game of Thrones... I love Game of Thrones even more when the credits song is sung by The Hold Steady.

That was really cool. Really upbeat and rocky. I'll be humming that for a while now.

It's a medieval version of Chillout Tent.

It's a medieval version of Chillout Tent. It's a medieval-esque song. Actual medieval drinking and marching songs tend to be more directly bawdy than what this is. The peons and peasants didn't really understand innuendo. Still a good track. It's such a silly song it's hard to not crack a smile listening to it.

Do you guys seriously like this? I'm SO disappointed. To quote a friend, "it sounds like a crap Dropkick Murphies cover band".
I feel like it had a lot of potential, given the lyrics and 'medieval tavern' theme, but they just didn't pull it out of the bag.

I'm not really a fan of it either, I think it is "good enough" for what it was used for though. I'm more interested in hearing the recording of Criminal Fingers.

This is complete and utter SHIT, and this was going in with bottom of the barrel expectations. I really hope they got paid a lot of money for this, because it sure is embarrassing.

Well I liked it!
Look - it is what it is: a daft rock-out bar band medieval tavern song (i.e. a bit of fun) knocked out for a fantasy TV show. It made me chuckle - I'd like to see em do it live!
We can't expect incisive lyrics every time (though we got them from CF as recently as Not Much Left of Us and Jackson).
It's good to see you back in a bar band baby......
Edit - OK - I just found out (reading the interview with Tad) that Craig didn't write the lyrics. Which just reinforces what I said!

It's too short to make any sort of real impression.

Tad says in the interview that they were given the music for it.

To be fair though, the Dropkick Murphys sound like a crap Dropkick Murphys cover band. And the lyrics I believe were already written, possibly in one of the GoT books? So you can't blame Craig for the lyrics. I really enjoy Game of Thrones, so I think that's why I enjoy this song. It will never be a favorite THS song for me, though.

It made me chuckle - I'd like to see em do it live! yeah, i thought it was a hoot. having read the books, i knew the lyrics and that they were ridiculous. it looks like they changed them just enough for it to sound more like a real tavern song and not a bawdy nursery rhyme. i thought this was a bit of fun. not *good* by THS standards, i suppose, but a good bit of fun.

The song is from the book series... first seen in A Clash of Kings.
Not Craig's lyrics....I thought, for a song from a book, that it was well done. I enjoyed it at least.

Came across a band that does versions of songs from the books. They've got The Bear and the Maiden Fair as well but it's not as good as THS's tallliketyrion.bandcamp.com/
