Ihave no idea how they ended up playing that show. Looked like Craig was having a good time, Tad played on one song. The show itself was phenomenal. I'm not sure who about half of the guest even were that got up there, a lot of young kids it seemed, but then everyone looks like young kids these days...
Bob Weir and Friends it felt like. Mike Gordon from Phish played bass almost the entire show. Many others came on and off the stage throughout.
They played non stop for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS ! Pretty crazy. There was some really great music going on, so glad we got to see it. You might be able to replay it eventually at Bobby's studio site - tristudios.com - they will probably break it into individual vids by song.
We had begun to think Craig & Tad weren't gonna play. It was over three hours into the show before they came up. Craig sang most of the lyrics to Scarlet Begonias, along with Donna, an original Grateful Dead member, for those who don't know. I gotta say it was a fairly bizarre image, but I was smilin ear to ear, as was Craig. Tad didn't really have much time or space to do his thing, as there was like 3 or more guitars playing most of the time plus a steel pedal , piano, and this crazy keyboard dude that shredded Jerry licks on the keys all night.
My gal and I had talked earlier in the night about what they would play, and I had said I could see Craig singing U.S. Blues. When all the musicians got back on stage at about the 4 hour point, they did just that, and Craig sang most of that one too ! it was pretty awesome... "I'm Uncle Sam, that's who I am, been hiding out in a rock-n-roll band !"
When they kept playing for like a three sing encore and it crept to 4 and a half hours I couldn't believe they were still playing. A great tribute to Jerry. Craig did also sing (backup) on Don't Let Go, a sweet jerry tune.
But it was still kinda strange... in a good way, but strange. I mean how exactly did they end up there ?
I'm just glad Craig survived, it looked like Donna was about to swallow him whole once or twice !!!

Was thinking about that last night - watching Don Henley on a TOTP2 programme (in between Olympic events!).
"saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac" etc.
Now if I can find out why Selvidge has a Welsh dragon on his guitar I'll be happy!
PS If anyone does have a link to any of the above tribute show, I'd appreciate it.

Agreed. Craig couldn't hit the high notes needed for that song. He did better on US Blues but I have not been able to find it. Was pretty cool seeing him next to Donna Godchaux, but she was obviously wondering " who is this guy?".
