Update on the bushfire situation. Burnt out of control all day again Sunday, two houses and some sheds gone but thankfully the wind took it in the opposite direction to me. A small amount od rain last night has helped get it under control now, phew.

Victoria, I've been thinking about this post ever since I saw it, and it's just too overwhelming to let me find words. I can't presume for to say anything, just let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers. May you mobilize the resources you have to come through this situation.

Thank you. Him and I were okay for a while but things have gotten rough again. It's stressful. We're pretty much done at this point.

I must say too Victoria, after the last few posts about this situation I was unsure what to say. Just hope that are taking good care of yourself and know that there are people out there that don't treat others like shit or put there own needs above everything/everyone else. Positive thoughts coming your way from down here.

We had to say good-bye to our remaining cat Bella today. Our 16-year-old kitten finally began to act like an old lady after losing her lifetime companion, Sterling, in December. Four weeks ago she developed a liquid-sounding choking cough, and the vet found extensive growths in her lungs. The vet quickly ruled out anything that could be treated, so we kept her comfortable as long as she could. But we had to watch her bit by bit lose everything she used to enjoy. She essentially stopped eating ten days ago. We each had one prolonged cuddle with her near the end; that was the last thing to go. This morning her legs were giving out every time she tried to move and we agreed it was time to take her to the vet for the last time. R.I.P. Bella. Together again with Sterling for all time.

Sorry for the loss, jtd. Also, thank you and Bec. Just thank you. I'm still with him despite us having a huge fight about a recent occurrence. When you love someone, you do whatever you feel it takes to make the relationship work and relationships are hard work.

Y'all know Josh from the 930 club? Big guy, lots of piercings, fixture at the club and handsdown the nicest guy in DC? He passed away last night . . . 930 club won't ever be the same

RIP Josh. I never knew him personally, but had been seeing him around 930 for as long as I've been going to shows. Everyone always said he was a super nice guy.

He seemed like an all around pretty awesome guy. He was occasionally interviewed by local media, and the interviews were always really interesting. I distinctly remember him politely declining to answer certain questions, saying that he'd prefer to focus on the positive. (I now sometimes use variations of that same line myself.)
Also, I could be wrong, but I wanna say I saw pics of him at THS New Years Eve show last year?
At any rate, thanks Josh, for everything you added to the DC scene. Don't know the deets of why you're not around anymore, but I know a lot of kids will always remember you when they walk through the doors of the 930.
Here's an interesting bit from the end of his WaPo obituary: ****** The hobby that most intrigued him was tattooing, and he spent hundreds of hours getting images of dragons gunned into his arms, chest and back. He chose the image because he was born in the year of the dragon, according to the Chinese zodiac.
None of the monsters had eyes, he told the Diamondback, because of something he read once in a Chinese legend. Giving them eyes would allow them to awaken and leave.
“I apply that concept to tattoos,” he wrote on his Web site years ago, “and I plan to make arrangements to have the eyes added to my dragons when I die so that they can be free again. I don’t know if anything will happen, but I think that it is a beautiful concept.” ******

Three years and no serious signs of depression. Why now again? Can't sleep, can't get up.

It's bullshit that you haven't. You don't have to be old to abandon winter.
If you follow me on other social media you already know this but last year was brutal with multiple unnecessary and far too early deaths. This year opened with a one two punch - my two oldest friends, over 30 years each. One died and the other is transferring to Pakistan. The last words to me from the one who died "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere" and the other just said "don't worry, it'll be fine"
Move while you're breathing. Who knows what age old will be?
