they didn't really acknowledge it. the breaks were filled in with equally awesome guitar and bass melodies. I thought i'd be upset, but to be honest, didn't really even notice no keys. Even in Stations, Stevie, etc.

No keys -- bizarre. I am going tonight -- will there be a good showing of Scenesters there?
I didn't see last night's setlist posted anywhere. Anyone have it?

Staitions Hurricane Navy Sheets Banging Camp Constructive Summer Hot Soft Light You Gotta Dance Sweet part of the City You Can make Him Rock problems Stevie Multitude Chicago Sequestered We Can Get Together Southtown The Weekenders Girls Like Status The Swish Chips Ahoy Encore Hornets HoodRat Resurrectiion
and I think Stay Positive was in there somewhere...
I am pretty sure thats it. Ears are still ringing pretty good. Keys were not missed at all and there was a really great part during Hoodrat when all three guitars were together and just sounded right. Strangely enough my favorite song of the night was The Weekenders. I forget during which song but some girl in the front just went down, passed out. It was like being at The Beatles at Shea.

The girl in front passed out right as Hornets started. She was right next to me. Scary stuff. Her eyes rolled up in her head and she hit the ground. Hopefully she was OK.

All i know is she had on I think jeans and a turteleneck sweater. But she was out. I tried to lift her and she was dead weight. i didnt see her face, so i dont know about the eyes rolling back ("Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'.). We must have been right next to one another Dead weight is exactly right

Person that passed out was NOT Camie, although she was right next to Camie. I saw her go down too. Three people to the left of me had to excuse themselves from the front and one was the woman that passed out. We took Camie to the hospital separately afterward.

is there something in the air at MHOW that everybody should be aware of?

is there something in the air at MHOW that everybody should be aware of? Not sure if something in the air, but it was really a euphoric show! The guys were just cranking all night, excellent energy and vibes in the crowd. Craig said something like "It's real easy to stay home on a Sunday night, but you guys all came out" to which all i could say was FUCK YEAH!!! It was really like a Baptist revival meeting. I went there feeling tired and with a sore throat and just plain worn out from long work week, but that all disappeared immediately when they hit the stage. Only my second time seeing them in Brooklyn, but will never be missing anymore of their shows there

Hands down- that was my favorite fucking Hold Steady show I have ever attended.
Ever.
The no-keys was a nice change. It worked on Almost Killed Me. And it works again.
We rolled in about 20 deep- had some scuffles, some hugs, some high fives and some laughs.
For real- I can't remember the last time I had such a blast.
Night like last reminded me why I love this band and the people who follow them so fucking much.

I am excited/intrigued/bewildered about seeing THS without keyboards tonight. That said, it should be a memorable show...
If I can finally hear Aderall live, all the more epic....

the lack of keys gave them a more guitar rock edge. it was tougher. harder edged. there were several excellent twin lead solos between tad and steve. very cool. when it kicked in, head's snapped around on stage and in the audience to figure out what just happened. definitely a highlight of the performance. interestingly, when they got to the 'we drink, we dry up and we crumble into dust' portion of stuck between stations, they simply eliminated that section and moved on. very strange.

When you say they eliminated that section , do you mean they left out those lyrics as well Either way sounds like I fucked up by not making it to these shows, what with the generally glowing reviews ! Waiting patiently for my next oppurtunity.

I'm guessing he means they eliminated the piano break.
Either way, I'm intrigued.

Remarkable set. One of my favorites, no doubt. Great crowd energy, band seemed to be having a great time. Keys or no keys, they still rule.
Craig noted that they played their first show there eight years ago to the day when it was North Six on January 31, 2003. Interesting that they're now closer to that lineup than they were for most of their existence. Full circle.
