Glad that this show is gonna be early...last night was a LATE drive home to Simi Valley for me, so I only managed about 4 hours of sleep before I had to get up for work. I'll be there +1, and I'm meeting some others. Hope to see you all there!

I'll bet Santa Barbara is a late one, but at least it's a Friday!

Great show tonight, disappointingly (but not surprisingly) small crowd. I'm terrible at set list reconstruction but here's what I remember, completely out of order except for the encore:
Sweet Part of the City Soft in the Center Killer Parties Constructive Summer Magazines Banging Camp Multitude of Casualties Rock Problems Hurricane J Stevie Nix We Can Get Together Stay Positive Chicago Seemed Tired Sequestered Stuck between Stations Massive Nights Sweet Payne Hoodrat Chips Ahoy Southtown Girls
Encore: Positive Jam Weekenders Resurrection
As for show times, I'll just say that when I saw the sign on the box office window saying "Hold Steady 9:10 to 10:40" I laughed, but I'll be damned if they didn't start at 9:10 and get off the stage by 10:45.

Here is the accurate setlist...you were close Penelope, but Killer Parties wasn't played:
Glass House, Pomona 8/26/2010
Sweet Part of the City Soft in the Center Constructive Summer Multitude of Casualties Sequestered in Memphis The Swish Navy Sheets Banging Camp Hurricane J Rock Problems Stevie Nix We Can Get Together Stuck Between Stations Chicago Seemed Tired Chips Ahoy! Southtown Girls Your Little Hoodrat Friend Stay Positive Massive Nights Sweet Payne
Positive Jam The Weekenders Resurrection
Small crowd, yes...man Pomona is far from LA. But an energetic crowd in front and the usual great performance by the guys. On a personal note, I wish there were some more changes from Wednesday's Costa Mesa setlist, but hey, I'll never quibble with a setlist that includes Stevie Nix and Banging Camp....
See you all tomorrow night for 3 of 4.
Jack
Edit: Well, now that I look at it, there were 8 different songs from Wednesday...just some of the more standard ones....but hey, a great time nonetheless....

Very good set...I feel like perhaps I liked the Costa Mesa setlist a little better, but the crowd was less douchey at Pomona. Plus, I achieved a life-long dream (ok, short-term dream) of meeting the guys!!! I was the girl in the black shirt who was extremely tired. They were all very nice. I had a set list and most of them signed it, except for Galen, of whom Bobby remarked was "living in the time of cholera." My friend asked if they'd take photos with me, and did! Tad said, "I"m in my pj's." Like I'd ever say no!! No SB, but see ya in Culver City...

Not the best show I've seen by the band - but that's not their fault. Weak energy from a small crowd results in less fun - the lack of booze is obvious. I'll take the drunken idiots from the Detroit Bar over kids standing still with their arms folded tight.
Anyways, from what Tad said after the show, Galen wrote tonight's setlist.
I thought the set started off a bit weak, Sweet Part of the City feels so out of place when you aren't in a decent city...and then a majority of the other songs near the beginning didn't pack their regular punch for me. By the time the band got around to Stuck Between Stations, though, they were in fine shape.
How about that encore? Greatest 3 song encore of all time?

Tad said, "I"m in my pj's." Like I'd ever say no!! No SB, but see ya in Culver City... Yeah I heard that. When Galen got some of his sweat on me he was all, "It's not like I actually have cholera". And Bobby gave me his drumsticks. It's funny, cause one is way more chewed up than the other. He does use a new set every night though, which begs the question of what he does with the old ones.. Yeah the guys were pretty chill after the show tonight, aside from it still being early (11:30), and having played a killer set. That encore was phenomenal. I've been wanted Positive Jam for so long. Also, if they play First Night tomorrow in SB, I totally take the credit for that one. Well, aside from Tad. Who was totally awesome before the show and chatted with me. Well, he answered the questions I keep posing. If you're gonna let me talk, I'm gonna talk. Just how it is.

Did anyone ask them when they're going to release "Goin' On A Hike" and "Criminal Finger"?

Thanks for the correct setlist -- I knew someone with a better memory and/or the presence of mind to write shit down would come along and post what they really played. But wtf was I thinking? Killer Parties? I'll put it down to the euphoric daze I was in last night; I was really hoping to hear Stevie Nix and was ecstatic that they played it, haven't heard it live in years.
Agreed, the encore killed. Wow.

Did anyone ask them when they're going to release "Goin' On A Hike" and "Criminal Finger"? I was chatting a bit with Tad preshow when he came out to smoke, and he said that they wanted to get another album out, and that they still have five songs from Heaven is Whenever that didn't make the album, so I'm under the impression those might make the next album. I asked about EP's and they said that they weren't really that into them cause they'd have to do the release themselves as opposed to Vagrant. Also, they soundchecked Criminal Finger and Seperate Vacations. It was pretty cool.

Another Hold Steady album soon?!? YES! That's what he was hinting at anyway. Maybe the end of next year? It depends on when they write new material, I guess.

Thanks for the info! Mystery solved...they must really like those songs to keep playing them...which is a good thing.

Went to Pomona last night from LA, small crowd - yes, but I thought it was awesome, like a private show almost.
What's the deal with Culver City? How do you get tickets? Went to the link and it just takes me to Facebook.
Please do tell if anyone knows. Thanks!

Got tickets for tomorrow. Much appreciated.
Do you know what the deal is with this show? Shorter set, I'm assuming (so weird to get 2 tickets for $3). If anyone hears when they'll go on, would love to know.
Thanks again!
