Wow that's gorgeous! I'll definitely check if there are any left at the London show.

I wish I had bought a poster (but there is nothing that you can do with it during the gig)
By the way, the bootleg tshirts outside (£5), which are usually really good deals, didn't look to good. Very boring shirts IMO. And normally I am up for t's of my fave band, but they were dull. And I'm not the biggest fan of tour date shirts.

Yeh, I'd try and get one of the posters at the roundhouse show but I have no idea what to do with it during the show... and I have to catch a train soon after the show so queuing up afterwards isn't really an option Hopefully I'll be able to nab one off the website But yeah, great work dude. Looks amazing.

With the decline in recording income, merch is a hugely significant part of any band's income these days - it's like torrenting an album!

Yeah but if I like the design of the shirt I will buy it. I love my bootleg We Are Scientists and Eagles of Death Metal shirts.
and I have no objections towards torrenting albums... *expects big row about piracy etc*

Ahhh right. My brain isn't functioning right. I didn't look at the sizes, just saw the designs and thought they were pretty boring so I moved on.

Sorry if it's a daft question, but how the hell can I get a Hold Steady T shirt in the UK (preferably on-line). Shoulda got one at gig in Bristol last week but was too excited - got in front row and didn't want to budge!! Thanks! Del

I asked that question a few weeks ago. The response was to order it from America. I'm sure someone can provide the site which they got their shirt off.

Matt just follow the link from the official THS site, I ordered an AKM & Guitar Spin and they arrived in 3 days from the US and they are of a better quality than you usually get here.

Wealdstone - how do the US sizes come in as compared to UK sizes? In my experience, American sizes often come in a bit larger than British.

I wouldn't say that's the case with the large ones I got. They're Fruit of the Loom shirts

I'm simply staggered that you'll come on a board and boast about how you steal money from your favourite bands. That's what it is. I suspect the pirated music argument has been lost, but you won't even let them make the money back on the merch. What a fan to have ...

So the fact that I purchased the vinyl version of "With Love & Squalor" and wanted it on my iPod I should spend another £10 quid and buy it again.
Or when my Cd's got burnt I should fork out a few hundred pounds, even though the band have already made money from me on the first purchasing.
I don't go pirating music just for the hell of it. I do it if there is a perfectly good reason, like mentioned above.
And if the bootleggers can create a better looking shirt than the merch team, fair dues to them. A lot of the time I will buy a shirt from the previous tour, just because the current tours shirts are plain black with the band name printed on it - how exhilarating

I have £10. It is the end of the show Train fair is £3 - giving me £7 to spend I can't afford a t-shirt. So am I meant to bypass the bootlegs and say "Oh I will just buy one next time, because I would rather have no shirt, than a shirt which I can afford"

that's right, yes, but it's more that you'd rather have no shirt than screw over a band you like and put money into an illegal industry which is systematically screwing over any band they think they can make quick money out of.

I'm really hungry and don't have any food, I walk past a house with a pie cooling on the windowsill...
What a tit! By merch from the merch stall, kids. If you can't afford it then, yes, you do have to wait until you can. Soz.

Dumb Question Time: How is bootlegging illegal.
I don't really understand how it works. I just presumed they purchased unsold merch from previous tours. And also do they need the band's permission to produce any merchandise with their logo/name on it?

Amazingly, the process of bootlegging merch that you completely made up in your head is quite far away from the reality. I don't want to go into it but I'm sure typing BOOTLEGGING into Google will provide you with an enlightening Sunday afternoon.
