I liked it and I'm glad to hear you like them too. Welcome back!

I'm thinking of flying up for the night...I'm expecting THS to be awesome at the Corner, so I probably will (depends on what work has in store for me).
I've never heard of the Metro Theatre. Is it a good venue?

Yeah i've been to the Metro heaps and heaps of times. There's no set seating so if you get there early you can get right up front in the (large) standing section. There's a bit of a barrier between the artist and the crowd (about one meter) which sometimes dampens the energy but with a good live band - Bellrays, Grates, Buzzcocks - it dosen't matter. Sound is quality too I'd prefer a smaller venue but the fact that they're booked into the Metro says good things about them

Fuck yeah...
Be warned: There will be drunken Kiwis at this gig.

Vasco Era announced as supports. they're not bad, though i was hoping Perry or Ripping Dylans or Eddy Current would get support slot or The Drones, tho they sold out the Metro on their own so it wouldn't make sense.... i was thinking of heading to Melb for a second show but since that's sold out i'll be hitting Laneway

You would love the Corner and I reckon there are ways of getting that extra ticket...or just getting in (I'm doing that for another friend now)!

i've got a love/hate relationship with The Corner... i've never been there but they've very anal about their listings on my site. its great 'cause i appreciate all the info but sucks because i'm lazy and don't feel like actually 'working' every time some band changes ticket prices or announces a support slot but yeah i think i'll just go to Laneway

i looked at the Laneway timetable for Sydney... THS are playing the outdoor stage, which should be awesome! the Bellrays destroyed it last year and it will be much less sweaty and gross then the Basement (though that was party of the fun)

Had to sign up to the new board... I'm definitely at the show tonight, but probably not much else... Having been sick for the last three days, I'm so desperate to make sure that I actually make it to the show tonight that I'm not taking any risks at all So no drinking for me, which is a small price to pay to make sure I actually see the band at all... Sure I'll see you around tlon... correct me if I'm wrong, but you'd be the only guy in Australia with a Unified Scene t-shirt, right?

the band will make you feel better. trust me. i was sick a few months ago and my friends dragged me to the Wildhearts. i wasn't sick the next day

Sure that'll be the case... nothing would stop me getting there tonight!
Might bring a camera, if I do it will just be a small digital...

I have a spare ticket for the Sydney show tonight. I'll be there about 9.30, and would be willing to donate it to a worthy soul in exchange for whatever donation s/he can afford (or nothing - better if it goes to someone who might not otherwise be able to afford to go). PM me in the next few hours with a mobile no. if you're interested.

I've had 5 hours sleep & have to go to work shortly but I don't care. I'm still on a high after the Metro gig last night!

SO MUCH LOVE trying to review this but its not making sense started with Postiive Jam ended with How A Resurrection Really Feels mostly focused on last 3 albums lots of sweaty jumping around, hugging, and discussions about the Gaslight Anthem Craig is the most unlikely rock and roll frontman ever. i love the way he changed up the words to lots of the songs, changing the meaning... he said in an interview he loves 'Tangled Up In Blue' and i remember how Dylan always messed with that song. or used to before he got old and lazy lots of Franz love ME! YOU! AND YOU AND YOU AND YOU AND YOU! WE'RE ALL THE HOLD STEADY! the three guys with 'SO MUCH JOY' written on their shirts, one word per shirt love. so much love. and booze. so much booze. and hanging out with somebody i'd just met until 4am. and grinning Vasco Era kicked ass, and i'll probably write about them when i see them supporting a less exciting live band. like The Who or the Rolling Stones. i think they changed guitars more then THS SO MUCH JOY

Great night, set quite different to Corner gig. I remember this much off the top of my head, in no particular order:
Positive Jam Yeah Sapphire Lord I'm Discouraged One for the Cutters Party Pit Massive Nights Sequestered in Memphis Chips Ahoy Stuck Between Stations First Night Little Hoodrat Friend You Can make Him Like You Cattle and the Creeping THings How a Resurrection Really Feels Constructive Summer Stay Positive Slapped Actress
I've probably missed about 5 songs. Hats off to Francois for remaining fully suited on what would have been a 45+ degree celsius stage. I loved every second of it. Thanks!!!
