There were bras on stage at House of Blues with $6 beers.
The venue looks awesome!

Everyone got a drink ticket good for one Jack Daniels drink or cocktail. Pretty sweet. After that you had to pay (I think it was $6.25 per drink). I went with the ginger and Jacks (minus the 4 or 5 feminax). I wanted the feminax this morning, though. ouch, my head (yes, it works for that, too). And it helps if the guys you're with won't let you buy your own drinks. Or maybe it makes it worse.

So what's the Jack deal? Free booze? I swear, man--that Hard Rock show was purely epic for that alone. not to mention those free recordable CD's. I still have two unopened packs from that show (1 year ago tomorrow, I believe).

Anyone have a setlist for this gig? Not exactly, but Positive Jam -> Stations -> The Swish to open. Set had Hoodrat, Banging Camp, Stevie Nix, Multitude of Casualties, Don't Let Me Explode and Resurrection to end the main set. Hornets! in encore, closed with Slapped Actress. Some other Boys and Girls and Stay Positive tracks in there. It's a bit fuzzy. One of my favorite sets I've seen the band play. Too bad about the corporate sponsorship, absurd opening bands and shitty crowd, though.

Too bad about the corporate sponsorship, absurd opening bands and shitty crowd, though. Great set. I would've liked something else from AKM later in the mix, but I can't really complain. First opening band was truly terrible. I thought the second band was interesting, if not my cup of beverage (and man, were they young). Apparently the "discovery" of Isaac from Modest Mouse (also not really my thing). And the crowd was pretty cool front and center, at least.

And the crowd was pretty cool front and center, at least. For the most part, yeah, except for the fairly big guy (tall) who kept slamming frannyglass aside - she is a very small person and it was fucked up of him. Still, no one got hurt and it was damn fun. I also felt, for no reason I could really name, that the corporate sponsorship had more to do with the band being a bit less social. I think the 'so much joy' feeling will return in the small clubs in April. But, Ollie, you won't know if you don't come to Sacramento.

I guess I was defining front and center kind of narrowly; pretty much you, me, frannyglass, rosecityscene, Mrs. Ramone, and our mutual friend and provider of your drinks. And that's a pretty cool group, after all. Hmmmm, Sacto.....

that was me and frannie up front with you. she had the killer boots. i had the curly hair. Welcome to the board Rosecityscene!! Thanks! Once again, it was really nice to chat with you two -- it took my mind off my friend having to leave and that. Next time I see THS, I'm definitely journeying too the front, hehe. I liked the second opening band, but I am always impressed by guitarists who can finger pick and sing at the same time. The first band just didn't hold my interest much.

It was a fantastic show DEFINITELY one of the best set lists I've experienced. I have to say I thought the 2nd opening act (Morning Teleportation, I believe) did a kick ass job! I enjoyed them immensely. Great meeting everyone, it was a GOOD night.

There were other people there? my sentiments exactly. the free-drinks/bars-in-the-back thing really cut down on the over-enthusiastic, lacking-basic-body-control, drunken-dudes-who-have-never-heard-the-band factor a bit, it seemed. i was relieved. i'm getting grumpy in my old age.

question for folks who were at the portland show. my husband got a confirmation for baltimore that he is not using, and i would like to just gift it to one of the ticketless. my hesitation is that the ticket states it is non-transferable. are they going to care if the name on the email is different than the name on the i.d.? because i don't think brendan can pass as my husband. did anyone try this at portland?

I think you'll be ok, though of course I can't guarantee it.
What they had people with emails do is exchange the email for a real ticket. You fill out your name etc on the stub (I used my real address, though I was from outside the accepted zone) so they can capture your info. Once you did that, you handed the stub over, THEN got carded. They really just want to be sure you're 21+, and get a way to market to you.

They did check names against a master list, but I don't think they checked IDs until after that (as Miss A said, for 21+ purposes). I was a few beers in and not paying a whole lot of attention, though, so I'm not entirely positive that they didn't ask for ID when they checked "the list."

Maybe it's a dumb question, but did anyone get an e-mail from the non-zone states for the Portland show?

nope. they just let our hearts break silently.

I did write to them and they answered several days after the show, telling me I was out of the eligible zone. But that was only because I sent a note (before I figured out what the problem was).
