BRENDAN!!!!WHOO!!!
glad to hear it.we'll be meeting up with missalabama for STL then we roll up collectively to IC.we are all staying at the Coralville Holiday Inn.should be an interesting night.i seriously doubt that there will be very many non-students at this show outside of USers from out of town like ourselves.we will have to show those Hawkeyes how the Unified Scene rolls.chances are the Picador has never seen its like.

We also includes one of the guys on my improv team. He's seen THS before, but I think this one will really blow his mind.

does anyone have any intel on the Picador itself?i saw Jason Isbell's first solo show(actually with what came to be known as the 400 Unit backing him up)after he left DBT there.he played in the room upstairs which holds absolutely no more than 300.is there a bigger room downstairs?seemed like there could have been.i remember having a beer at a bar downstairs before they opened the doors to upstairs.but alas it was pretty dark and i was pretty drunk so i wasn't able to ascertain an entrance to any larger room on the main floor.what gives?
if THS are in fact playing that tiny room upstairs i may wet myself during the show.full on soilage is not out of the question.that stage is about 18 inches off the floor and that room is a perfect rectangle.it'll be like the punk rock shows of my childhood.probably with authentically shitty punk rock club acoustics to boot.
regardless,i'm jacked for the Hold and seeing all you fine folks.

looks like most of the clubs on this tour are 300-500 capacity, tops. try to control your bowels, though, ok?

I will be there with bells on. Figuratively that is, not literally. But speaking of "literal". How "literal" do you think they are with the 7:00 thing? I am guessing they mean door not show (God I hope they don't mean show) Does any one know what time things normally swing at the Picador?
Looking forward to meeting you all there.
Is "War On Drugs" still slated as the openers for this leg?

Finding a flight to Cedar Rapids from anywhere in MI is more of a pain in the ass than I ever imagined. Still, just bought my ticket to the show, I'll get there.

DRTPants - is the Holiday Inn close to the venue (and cheap)?

Hey all, I live in Iowa City. The show will indeed be upstairs, and yes, it's exactly how drtpants described it. As for starting times... usually the show starts about an hour after doors open. Sometimes later, but that is usually for shows with doors at 9:00 and it seems like they're holding off starting to get more people in the door. Obviously, since the show is sold out, that won't be an issue. The Coralville Holiday Inn isn't super close to the venue, but it's not far (Iowa City isn't very big). tHS played at the Picador in 2007 and it didn't even sell out. That said, I waited to get tickets and waited too long (I should have noticed that since there was no MN show, everyone would be coming down for this one). Anyone have an extra ticket or two?

The downtown Sheraton is the Hotel that is within walking distance, and it is not really cheap, or very nice. I was there in February to see Will Whitmore and I stayed at the Sheraton. The Picador is a dump. Upstairs it could be hard to get a drink, take a piss, or get up and down the stairs. The stairway comes up into a serious bottle neck where the really dumpy bathrooms are between the bar area and the venue/standing area, and upstairs will be 100 degrees and 100% humidity most likely, so don't wear much if you can help it. No coat check either. Don't expect to hang in back and be able to see a damn thing unless your 6ft 5in or taller, so plan to be in front early if you want to see the band. They were selling $2.00 PBR cans at the Whitmore show if that interests you.
Plenty of smoke in there too if you know what I mean, and nobody was bothered by security about it. I don't know if I actually seen any "security".
I may have an extra ticket for Iowa City and Omaha too, but I won't really know until the last minute.

I'll take that extra Iowa City if you have it, we have one more than originally planned. If you can't get hold of me, pm your number to frannyglass and she'll get hold of me.

I booked a room at the Sheraton via Hotwire.com yesterday for $73. It's the 3-star in the university area choice. The hotel reviews aren't the best, buy you can't beat the location.

My possible extra ticket holder has decided to come to the show, so no extra ticket here for Iowa City or Omaha.

For those of you guys shocked and amazed at such small venues: next time we get a Dallas or OKC date, hit those up. Cheap beer (as Heidi can attest) and generally smaller venues.
