In George, Washington. Anyone ever been? Anyone going this year?
As of now, it looks like the closest THS show I can make it to, but the rest of the lineup looks a little iffy, and I've heard, whether or not it's true, that it's a pretty juvenile festival. (Warped Tour anyone? Noooooot my favorite.)
But just buying tickets for Saturday 5/29 when THS is playing wouldn't be too bad, not to mention drastically cheaper.
Thoughts? Anyone? I'd love to hold out for another Portland show, but I'm entirely not sure that'll happen...

I'm going! I'm actually travelling pretty far to go, so I'm camping and staying the whole festival. I've never been to the Gorge and I hear its beautiful and I want to see it. And I think the lineup is killer. I have no idea about it being a juvenile festival, I've never been before. I hope not though, my friends and i that are going are late 20s/early 30s so I dunno, maybe we'll raise the average age of attendees a little?

I don't know if it is juvenile, but it can't be as bad as Warped Tour. Tens of thousands of 14 year old scene kids flooding towards a 3Oh3 show really can't be equaled.

Oh, the Gorge is bloody breathtaking. You're certainly making no mistake in counting that as one of your reasons to go! I have a feeling by "juvenile" this person I talked with probably meant college kids, as it seems to be close to a whole lot of schools. Also couldn't imagine the lineup drawing very much attention from the younger-teen demographic. College kids are fine, but yeah, as Rob so eloquently stated, floods of 14-year-olds really make for a bad show (I hate to pigeon-hole, but...something about everyone asking you for a cigarette so they can hold it and look older...) I think I'll probably end up going. Probably making a mistake and not camping like you, fairysari, because even though I called the lineup iffy (mostly because I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the bands--look at me, being ignorant!), I'm sure it'll end up being awesome. But it's just so expensive with full-festival pass, and the camping included. :/

Yeah it is pretty expensive. I got tickets in February when I think there was a discount on the three day pass.
We usually go to Burning Man every year, but we're skipping it and doing Sasquatch instead, so I'll probably end up saving money.

I'd love to hold out for another Portland show, but I'm entirely not sure that'll happen... that's my plan. too much money, too long a trip for one day and too expensive to camp (especially without any equipment). this is my hater/grumpy-old-man-take on the fest. i've heard good things from others about the "experience", but i dunno how much water that holds with me. at least 40% of the bands schedule pdx club dates that weekend, it seems, based on the last couple of years.

You are definitely more on top of it than the rest of us, fairysari! I hope you have an amazing time! (And yeah, I can definitely see how it will be cheaper than Burning Man.)
Yeah, really hoping for a Portland show. The last one was lovely, can't go wrong with the Crystal Ballroom.

Yeah, really hoping for a Portland show. The last one was lovely, can't go wrong with the Crystal Ballroom. to digress--yes, the crystal is a lovely venue, but i have beef: the two times i have seen okkervil river there have only been saved from being miserable crowdsperiences by my willingness to push my way to the front fifth of the crowd, as there seems to be a large population of people willing to pay $25-30 to stand in the bar areas, not face the stage, and talk loudly over the band to each other. granted, the second instance (a couple of weeks ago) was a free, corporate-sponsored event, and whiskey was cheap, but the first time was a legit, paying event, and these motherfuckers couldn't shut the fuck up even long enough to keep will sheff from having to cut off a solo version of "maine island lovers" with a "nevermind...it's cool" and a shrug. the band were total troopers, to their credit, but i was shocked that people would pay for a ticket just to hang out and talk over the set to their friends--you can do that for free at any number of places, and with non-gouging drink prices, too! in conclusion, the crystal is lovely, but if you care to hear the performance, a close spot is vital.

They released the schedule today finally (http://sasquatchfestival2010.sched.org), THS are on at 7:30 pm, after Miike Snow and before Nada Surf, on the Bigfoot Stage.

Leaving after work today.
It's kinda shitty that The National are on at 7:00 and THS at 7:30. I think I'll watch as much as The National as possible and then run to the other stage for THS.

It was awesome! I'm at th airport on my way home right now, but I got a setlist so I'll post it when I unpack it... It'll be like 8 hours though before I get back to the east coast. Only thing I can remember is that they opened with hornets. Oh and Steve got a haircut . The whole festival was interesting. Th crowds for all the bands I wanted to see were the smallest - hold steady (small but intensely rowdy), fruit bats, drive-by truckers, and even ween (totally cleared out for them but they were aWesome).
