He's AWESOME!!! Saw him with Amy Lavere when they were supporting Seasick Steve on his UK tour. I commented at the time how good he was. Although, I must admit, I am disappointed it's not Steve Barone.

I spot a "red herring":
"He played a couple of gigs with the band last month". Surely this news would have broke sooner?
Plus, Luther joined the Black Crowes in 2007.

I am thinking the same thing. Did they even play any shows last month? Seems like the phrase "last month" would prompt people to look at the calendar and realize it is April 1st.

"Selvidge says he and Kubler have been working on some "crazy double guitar stuff" to use on tour."
That is extremely exciting to me. My favorite band is Umphrey's Mcgee, who's trademark is awesome harmonized double guitar lines. It's one of my favorite things in music. Can't wait to hear what they come up with. While it's fun to see Craig w/ the guitar, he doesn't really add anything with it, so I'm all for having another more talented player up there on the stage. It can only help the music imo.

Hmmm well that definitely is interesting. Another thing from the first article is that he learned "24 songs for touring," which seems a little low since some of the live recordings I have are longer than 24 songs. Although if that doesn't include new songs (assuming he already knew them?) it might make sense.

However, it could have just been the initial number of songs learned, and he's learned more since. Also, it's entirely possible that he won't be playing on every song. So the catalog they have to pull from this tour could maybe feature him on 24 songs, but there will still be a number of tunes that he doesn't play on. I think that's possible.

Yeah that is a good point. Still an unusual day for this news to come out edit: on second thought I suppose it isn't that unusual considering the tour starts tomorrow.

Not as good as past Google jokes I agree this would be a lame one, maybe I am just being too cautious today. Already got super stoked when it was reported that my Seahawks had signed WR Brandon Marshall. Turned out to be a joke

The "learned 24 songs" part seems a little misleading, since they'll almost certainly play more than that on some nights, not to mention switch up the setlist from night to night. So either he's been learning more of the catalog over the past 4 months, or he's only going to play on select songs.
And as a side note, he also toured with Lucero a few times years ago.

I thought this was just going to say "APRIL FOOLS."
I'm not too sure whether to make heads or tails of this.

I have no idea who this guy is but if he was Tad's top choice for a guitarist I know he'll rock my face off.

No keys yesterday? Seems like Selvidge takes places far right, Koob stays on the left, with Craig in the middle.

The keys guy was there. Albeit in a corner. Poor guy! This is going to be a guitar heavy tour, that's for sure. Can't wait for Amsterdam.
