Holy crap, I must have this. I'll be at my local record store the second it opens to ensure I get one.

holy crap. that is potentially very, very awesome. does this mean i need to go wait in line for record store day? the first year i strolled into my local shop around midday and loaded up on goodies. Last year, I showed up around opening and there was a line around the block. I gave up. But if I can get my hands on this, I might just go join the hordes in the wee hours of record store day morning

it doesn't list anything in harrisburg. JERSEY, HELP.
the entire unified scene is going to be in your town on record store day. with no participating record stores for those of us not too hungover to try?

Hoodrat, since you live in DC and I won't be making it to Harrisburg, I'll gladly pick up a copy for you. I'm terribly excited about Record Store Day since there aren't too many participating record stores in Mississippi or Pensacola, FL.
Question: Is this the full album or just a limited edition single?

Good news- just spoke with our local record store-
They ARE participating in Record Store Day.
My girl over there checked her system and it looks like she CAN order this...
Will hopefully be able to post confirmation about this later today...

Eeep. You would be my hero. I'll await confirmation from Jersey on whether or not this would be necessary. But seriously, thanks. EDIT: and record store day is seriously awesome. but crooked beat was an insane mess last year. there was a line around the corner before they even opened and they sold out of stuff quickly. maybe try starting at red onion? good luck!

Now I need to go buy a phonograph. Also, most thrift stores and pawn shops have decent players. If you want something new-ish I would check eBay, Insound or Urban Outfitters.

If you don't mind mailing it out, that is.

I was going to my hidden gem of a record store that people forget exists: Melody Records. I'm going to go this evening an pick up my copy of The Monitor (super excited!!!) and I was planning on putting my order in then.

Any record player you find at Urban Outfitters is going to sound like shit. You need a decent one that hooks up to a receiver, not one with build-in speakers.

Here's hoping for a digital download code with the vinyl....
Oh and did anyone else notice at the bottom of the page...
"The Hold Steady have added an appearance at Summer Fest in Milwaukee on July 1 to their touring schedule. Full list of confirmed tour dates are here."

I would prefer to have a Technics turn table, but I'm ballin' on a budget so I grabbed Crosley with built in speakers. It works just fine for me.
