Hey y'all,
New listener/member/poster here.
Thought I would just share a thought that I thunked last night. I almost titled this "real musicians," but I realized that there are a lot of real musicians out there who play real instruments but don't translate it into "real" music. The Hold Steady plays real music. They play for themselves and they play for the audiences, and nobody else. This is just my first impression of the band. They seem to be above it all. There aren't many other musicians out there or in recent memory who seem to be above it like they are above it. Elliott Smith, The Silver Jews, my friends Cold Duck Complex are a few other examples that come to mind at this time. Just a thought.
Alive, Frankie T

Great crowd too, tons of young punks, but still friendly, which is rare for a young punk crowd.
