So I went to see this medium-paced summer teen romance story and enjoyed it immensely, if only for the fairly esoteric (well at least in a inner-city Manchester cinema with 25 people in the theatre sort of way) 80s indie rock references. couldn't believe it when the Miramax logo faded out and Bastards of Young kicked in. cool.
it's basically a bit like constructive summer in movie form.

Is this the one from the guy who did Superbad? I think I made a mental note to see it, so I'll try and check it out soon!

It has Bill Hader, the policeman from Superbad in it, and also the lead guy is doing his best Michael Cera impression throughout the film. It has Kristin Wiig in a small role <33333, and Bill from Freaks and Geeks;

It has Kristin Wiig in a small role <33333, and Bill from Freaks and Geeks; It was written and directed by Greg Mottola who directed Superbad and wrote/directed the charming and overlooked Daytrippers and quite a few Arrested Development episodes. It stars Jesse Eisenberg who seems in the trailers at least to be playing the endearing, unlucky in love teenage boy he played in Roger Dodger, before Cera did it in Juno or Superbad but after John Cusack in Say Anything, or the dude who played Dante in Clerks, or Jason Biggs in American Pie etc etc.

The way this movie was marketed and its target audience I heard greatly vary...the superbad associations made me not want to see it but I've heard nothing but good things. I'll have to check it out.

It's not like Superbad, it's much more charming and quirky, instead of brash and balls out like Superbad.

I really enjoyed this movie. Certain moments seemed ripped directly out of my own life. The soundtrack is of course superb. The use of "Pale Blue Eyes" is perfect.
