Hurley invites a girl to see the Hold Steady at the Troubador on Friday. I just started watching the show, so this may already be a thread, but it seemed pretty cool. It even got a mention in the "Lost-epedia" "After allowing Hurley to test some headphones, she was asked if she wanted to see "The Hold Steady" play at the Troubadour that Friday, she informs him that she had to work, and she then informs him that she is available to attend on Saturday." lost.wikia.com/wiki/Starla

Hurley is the man, he's so cool that Larry David wants to buy pot from him.

I can't wait for the new CURB! Same, Larry with the Blacks is going to be great, I was laughing so hard at the ending montage of the last season.

Craig has a friend who writes for "Lost," and apparently the band is big on "One Tree Hill." Pitchfork: You've mentioned a couple of times, you've got a friend who writes for "Lost". Craig Finn: Yeah, my best friend Eddie [Kitsis] writes for "Lost". And that's the other thing I'd like to do, write for something else or do some sort of writing otherwise, TV or movies or whatever. Pitchfork: Have you ever thought about doing that? Craig Finn: Yeah. In fact, I've talked to people about that. We'll see what happens. There's a lot of Hold Steady fans in the TV world. Like "One Tree Hill", for instance. I've never met anyone on that show, but there were two episodes last season named after Hold Steady songs: "How a Resurrection Really Feels" and "A Multitude of Casualties". I think if I ever decided to do it, I could probably meet that guy! pitchfork.com/features/interviews/6497-the-hold-steady/

The Kitsis/Adam Horowitz (not that one) partnership are all over the new Tron film too. Working in a THS reference might be a bit trickier there.

How about the protagonist is driving his car thingy and needs to turn 90 degrees right, so yells to a person riding with him, "HOLD STEADY" ...just an idea. Pumped about Daft Punk scoring the film.

I love that episode. I also love thinking about the similarities between LOST and The Hold Steady. I know it is coincidence, but certain parts of the stories are very similar. Both have ties with religion and the Jesus/Judas theme (LOST season 5 finale!!!). Both deal with flashbacks and characters seeing the future (Holly in Both Crosses, etc). Just makes my ingestion of pop culture all that much more fun.

It's probably my overactive imagination, but I like to think that the line "they had diamonds in the drain" from Arms and Hearts influenced that horrible, horrible Nikki and Paolo episode. Wikipedia says that it was a Kitsis/Horowitz episode, so maybe.

Wikipedia says that it was a Kitsis/Horowitz episode, so maybe. Maybe the Richard Alpert character was inspired by Stevie Nix: Lord, to be 33 forever. Locke's favorite song is How a Resurrection Really Feels.

Good call on Locke's favorite song.
I like to think that the "33 forever / 17 forever" in Stevie Nix alludes to time travel, and jumping back and forth in space and time; but the Richard Alpert theory is even better!
"Stuck Between Stations" - Desmond sitting in the Swan Station pushing the button?
I need to re-watch the first 5 seasons before season 6 starts up.
