Hold Steady was on the radio at work once. This is kind of amazing because someone I work with thinks it's funny to put Delilah on. If you are not lucky enough to have experienced Delilah, it's a radio show in which people call Delilah, talk about their ninth grade significant other while Delilah asks questions like "Did you tell him/her you loved him/her?" and then they dedicate a song, perhaps "Lady in Red." However, on this night someone actually had the current on and "Sequestered in Memphis" was playing. I immediately went over to turn up the radio, realized it was after nine and some of the patients were sleeping so I didn't. I danced in the nursing station and one of my coworkers asked why I was so happy. I love The Current. The last few times I listened (I rarely bother with the radio) I heard Lord I'm Discouraged and Charlemagne in Sweatpants.

During half time of a footie match on a telly in an Irish pub in a quiet bit of Amsterdam. "I know this jam..."

not really random, but Sean Keavely played "Stay Positive" on the radio 6 this morning, one of the few occassions I've heard THS on the radio over here, but the idiot made some comment about it being sad that a 39 year old singer is singing about the youth of today, thus completely missing the fact it references the band not the kids.

"Stay Positive" played over the top of a montage of Liverpool's last 6 games on Sky Sports today.

NME has gone downhill so quickly. The last year the only bit worth reading is the gig listings. I mean 6 Mighty Boosh covers, yes they're are very funny guys, but they shouldn't be on the front cover of the NME.
The letters page used to be fun to read, but now the first of the double page spread is letters about the BNP and the Election. Sorry but this has no place in a music magazine, so the people write letters with really tenuous links, and it's just boring really.

It was very strange because I had just listened to stay positive while I was getting dressed, then I came downstairs, turn on the radio and then that comes on. I hadn't even missed the begginning. Weird timing.

Today, walking into a charity shop (Help the Aged) to browse some 2nd hand books. I think you call them Thrift Stores in the US, right? Now in the UK, Charity Stores are generally full of either old people browsing old nylon slacks and cardigans or just keeping warm or the odd vinyl vulture sifting through stacks of ancient easy listening records in search of the odd soul or jazz gem. Anyway, today, in Help The Aged, an old dear, possibly in her 80s manning the till, chatting away to her about the weather and that, as you do...playing from the stereo behind her...the opening bars of...no it can't be can it...? It is! The vocals are in! It's Stay Positive!! I was too bemused to ask her if she was intentionally listening to it...! hah! i haven't heard THS in any thrift shops but all the ones near me put on the community radio stations so its possible i will hear them

On Sportsnet a cable TV sports station here in Canada, there is a 3 minute vid montage of hockey hits and fights that plays every day just before 5 (after Poker after Dark). The music is none other than THS- Stay Positive (although its heavily edited so there are more Woo Oh Ohh's at the start)......
