I see them getting a couple of guests on the album, another boy/girl duet a la Chillout Tent (maybe with Alison Mosshart outta the Kills) beg your pardon, but alison mosshart should ALWAYS be referred to as from discount, and most certainly NOT the kills. sorry to get off topic, but i know at least one or two people on this board will agree with me on this. discount was a truly magnificent band. the kills are not.

You really don't like the Kills if you think that racism is better than them >_>

Mike on a scale of 1-10 how hard are the records to find?

it kind of depends on the record. should be able to find a second-hand cd of 'crash diagnostic' on ebay without too much trouble or expense, and i think the 'love, billy' ep (five billy bragg covers - excellent but not exactly a great starting point for the band) still seems to pop up all over the place. the other two albums and the two singles collections, however, are a fucking nightmare to track down. 'half-fiction' and 'singles vol. 2' are the best ones, but like i mentioned before they didn't really have any bad moments.
the half-fiction 12" would score highest on your scale. i'd probably trade my fiestas and fiascos 12" for a copy on clear vinyl.

Re - next album. Maybe they'll write and record a load of killer songs and then wreck the album by maxing it and distorting the shit out of everything at the mastering stage.

Discount was one of my favorite bands growing up. I remember seeing them with Scared of Chaka (I think?) at the Stalag 13 (RIP). I think I have a video of that show that I shot as well. I'll have to look for that. 'Half Fiction' is by far the best, and a bunch of the 7 inches were really great to and ended up showing up on the singles collection. I still wish I had my red Discount shirt that had a guitar looking like a Tommy gun and the worlds "Pop Revolution" on it. Almost all of their stuff can be found on emusic: www.emusic.com/artist/Discount-MP3-Download/11595479.htmlSo yeah, big fan.

i remember reading an interview with allison m when the kills started out and she refused to talk about discount. seemingly she was embarrased by her punk past.

I'd love to hear some more big-sound bridges like Stuck Between Stations. I'm sure it'll be fucking great anyway though. And if it's not, and it's completely different, then that'll be our cue to step back and for a new wave of fans to take our places, like what's happened with bands like Coldplay, U2, Kings of Leon. But we aren't gonna let that happen are we?

scount was a truly magnificent band. the kills are not. discount>chocolate>racism>the kills [/quote] This was one of those "interpreting Mike's elite musical interest" times when I was momentarily genuinely unsure whether this was a list of peculiarly named bands, or a humorous (if ever so slightly tasteless) scale.

My favourite band ever was called Liberty 37, named after a film. I searched them online, and found a myspace, way after they split. Thought, obviously a fan-made one, but I'll chuck it in my top friends and spread the word. Imagine my shock when I discovered not the band I loved, but a white supremacist band of the same name! Gutted!

If anyone's got Spotify, they've got Ataxia's Alright Tonight, Half Fiction, Crash Diagnostic and 2 singles albums on there.
