There are worse problems to have then getting to see THS one night and Old 97s another; 2 of my fave live bands (or bands in general, for that matter).

I'm giving up the Old 97s tix.... Fair enough. And probably playing the odds the right way. But Craig's voice could be shot for the second show. And Rhett and the boys could bust out a Ray Charles >> Four Leaf Clover (with Exene; it's LA, after all) >>Cryin' Drunk encore. I'm just sayin'.... Oh, and Rhett was my now 8-year-old daughter's first rock star crush. When she was 2. At an in-store solo gig at Borders. I love my THS, but the Old 97s will always have a spot in my rawk n roll heart.

Where did you pick up on this second LA show? I don't see it on ticketmaster, the El Rey or the Hold Steady main site.
Want.

Are the 97's worth seeing these days... do they mix in the old stuff?
Maybe I'll make it two nights in a row w/ the US folks!
Too Far to Care is one of my all time favorite records... and I also love the "Early Tracks" EP, but I actively dislike both Fight Songs and Sattelite Rides. (I thought Drag it On was ok... and I never got or heard any of Gravity.)
Given these limitations of mine... think I'd still enjoy the show?

I can't say. I saw them last year and it was a great mix. I really like Fight Songs and Satellite Rides, though, but do not like Blame It on Gravity. They played St. Ignatius, though, first song off the first album. I say they mix it up. They are extremely fun in concert. I'm always amazed that a pretty boy like Rhett really has no self-consciousness about just wailing and screaming and letting loose on stage. Makes me like him better.
I'd wait until we see what's really going on with the second night of THS. Otherwise, please meet us at either show!
