Per the Daytrotter Mailing List: Hello all you good Daytrotter people. Here's a spoiler alert (and these don't happen all the time): The Hold Steady session is coming tomorrow. Be prepared. That is all. Forget we said anything. It's the next in the SXSW sessions we taped down in Austin last month and it's a dandy including songs from the new album as well as an ancient tune. We've just begun scouring the availability of bands around the upcoming Lollapalooza and Pitchfork music festivals in nearby Chicago to see what might be possible to pull off. Each summer, those festivals have been kind to us and we're looking at this summer being the same. www.daytrotter.com/

Taping in the studio this week are Junior Boys (this one already happened and let me tell you...cool as all get out), Tim Easton (of Bloodshot Records), The Thermals, Glass Ghost (Eliot from Flying and Fertile Crescent), Treasure, Shelly Short and Alexis Gideon (who will be playing a live show this Friday, May 1st at Huckleberry's Pizza Parlor here in Rock Island), Fastball, Netherfriends (new signees to Emergency Umbrella Records) and hopefully another great one on Sunday that we don't want to jinx.

I was just looking through the Daytrotter archives yesterday, thinking "Why haven't THS done one of these yet?", so this is very good news!

Listening now, sounds great, Sweet Payne, woo! Also, very much dug The Catcher In The Rye analogy.

It's too bad they couldn't whip up a fun cover to play, but with the session coming in the middle of SXSW - understandable.
Rippin' version of Stay Positive though.

jsut listening to the version of SP and i think i like it better than the album version, that song sounds so right all unclean and raw, and i like the little licks koob add to the verse riff, its very nice indeed
