I do not know if this has been posted before. Interesting article at moviewaffle.wordpress.com/2008/08/20/the-hold-steady-the-musical-a-review/This is something I have thought of doing (and hopefully one day will). But, it would be a musical play, not a movie, the main character would be Holly, and it would be a lot more serious than Beautiful Girls (good movie though). Something more in the Spring Awakening vain. I do like the Mickey Rourke idea, he would be a great Charlemagne. Any other casting suggestions, for a play or a movie? I appreciate, and agree with, the Romance & Cigarettes reference. A great, unique movie.

I always Imagine Charlemagne as the pimp in Taxi Driver (Harvey Keitel)
