Not sure how the soundcheck tickets work as I’ve only been to the main show before but I’m in London early for the show this time round so if anyone has a spare ticket for the soundcheck PM me!

Anyone know if there's a support act for Sunday's gig at Colours? Not sure but it’s usually a DJ set on the Sunday. Michael Hann has done it some years.

Just back from The First Night.
Summary: the very best I’ve seen them. Sheer ebullient brilliance.

Band were great on Sunday night and the sound was excellent. But the venue was either oversold or everyone in the room itself was taking up an inordinate amount of space, as I (and a lot of other people) spent the gig stood in the entrance corridor to the room.
It wasn’t packed in and I probably could have made the effort to get in if I pushed through, but the vibe was a bit like knowing there’s a really awesome party happening in the house next door but not being able to get in. I lasted about ten songs then knocked it on the head for the evening. If I hadn’t seen them twice already in the week I’d probably be pissed off, but they were so good on Friday that I didn’t mind. Alas it meant I missed out on You Gotta Dance, which is one of my most-wanted songs.
Think I’ve learned my lesson that solo attendance on Sunday means being stuck at the back. That means I’ve got a year to make new friends or convert my friends to the band…

We saw security staff beckoning people to move forward before the band came on but otherwise no sense of problems with capacity. Sorry you missed out on a great night, and for what it's worth, I come by myself every year and love it. No one else to factor in, go wherever you please, do whatever you want, absolute bliss!

That means I’ve got a year to make new friends or convert my friends to the band… I saw a bunch of you in the entrance corridor before I pushed my way through but I fully understand why you didn’t do that. If I’d been on my own I probably wouldn’t have but having mates in the crowd gave me something to aim for. I thought the venue was really poor to be perfectly honest. The main room wasn’t really big enough for the capacity, and while I found the staff were friendly and tried their best they were definitely understaffed. Behind the bar most noticeably. 3 kids between 2 large bars and then they ran out of most things. No complaints about the bar or security staff but the people who run the place need to have a serious word with themselves. I’ll never go there for a gig again. Terrible place. Only plus side (bar the staff) would have been them keeping the bar open til midnight after the show, especially on a Sunday, but they’d run out of most things by then so they even managed to shoot themselves in the foot there.

Sympathise with the lone ranger. Was pretty packed but you could find pockets of space. Always a lot harder to claim a bit of floor though if you're on your own and if you have to pop out to the loo etc you are starting again from zero with nobody holding your spot.
I always wonder if they factor in body types for capacity these shows. Your average THS fan definitely takes up a bit more room than a 20 year old skinny indie kid!
Bar situation was bizarre. Not sure how somewhere that's basically a gig venue can run out of plastic pint glasses. Franz got served a nice looking pint of Guinness mid-set but I was almost laughed out of town when I asked for one at the bar post-gig....

It was a strange one. I was pretty much against the mixing desk at the back and felt fine (and didn’t need to move), but was aware of folk near the door. I liked the space and sound was good, nice few surprises in the set list. But the staffing levels were pants. And running out of beer? Someone didn’t do their homework. I can see the logic of the venue in terms of the story arc of the band, but probably too small.

The venue has been reworked quite considerably since it was the old Bar and Kitchen - main bar area is far less spacious and there was a general vibe from the staffing levels of not really being arsed as it was a Sunday. I went in the main room with ten mins to go and easily got a great spot in the back right corner. Surprised it couldn't fit everyone in. I can imagine if you were trying to get on it booze wise it would've been a frustrating evening.
Having said that, the set, sound and atmosphere in the room was incredible. Set list was exactly what I'd want from a Sunday show, mix was really good. Best small show since the first one at the Lexington for me.

Another brilliant weekender in the books. I can't really be objective about this band, so I'm not going to try! Given how great the sound was across all three nights, I'd love a properly mixed live album with this line-up. I say live album, it'd have to be a whole show. 1CD would be insufficient. Could see the problems people were having with getting into the gig room at Colours, yet as others have said, once you got a few feet away from the door there seemed to be reasonable amounts of room. The bar running out of beer and closing early was a disappointment. With enough staff and stock they'd probably have doubled their sales. Of the Sunday venues, I think Oslo was the one best set for this.

Another outstanding weekender agreed.
Colours though? FFS. 😬🤷WTF? People standing in the corridor? There was easy standing in there. No reason people should have shut out. Security should have got word to the band to get Craig to ask everyone to step up a yard or two. That would have solved that problem. People were going back and forth to get beers. There was room.
Unfortunately and unlike the majority of THS fans there were a few idiots there Sunday night. Security eventually threw one or two out but they should have acted earlier. Things could have got ugly and security would have been responsible (in part) had it.
Then they run out of beer? 🤔WTF?😂 it was all good in the end though. You could find something to drink unless you are extremely picky.
Set and performance wise I'd say Friday was good, Saturday was outstanding and Sunday very good.
Saturday, Sunday, Friday in that order for me. Nice to hear the new songs getting an airing over the weekend. Understudies sounds like a keeper. 20 year anniversary shows and no Positive Jam? I would have lost money if someone has bet me that at 8.59 Friday night.
Nice to see so many familiar faces from far and wide. Seeing old friends, making new, as always the Unified Scene rarely disappoints. Can't wait for next year all things being equal.
