Anyone else excited yet? Great to see the dates teased on social media a couple of weeks back. I just booked an apartment around the corner from the venue for the Friday and Saturday. It’s above a nightclub and has a stove top, a microwave and a toaster. It sounds perfect.

I've booked 3 nights accommodation (refundable) and flights (£33 each way from Aberdeen - which I'm willing to take the hit on). I'm a mixture of excitement and trepidation; I've barely been out in the last 18 months having been lucky enough to work from home and wanting to protect my elderly mum. The downside is that I really can't imagine being in a "sweaty gig" environment - which makes me a bit sad.

Not sure where you get that notion from! The first year the third show was the Lexington, which isn't too far from Camden. A couple of miles. Then Oslo, in Hackney, which is a little bit further. Then Bush Hall. Now, I can tell you how long it takes to walk to Shepherd's Bush from Camden, because I do it sometimes. About two hours.

It's all about perspective I guess - I was more thinking of having to change accommodation for the third night. I live in the NE of Scotland - for me going to Glasgow for a gig (5 hours round trip) is not 'that far' - Scotland does not exist for most bands once you get north of the Central Belt...

I feel your pain. Perthshire here. And I am much closer to the central belt (I'm thinking Barrowlands, etc). I actually find it easier to get to Massive nights than Weekender, although to be honest, I've been to them all..lol. Although 2020 was virtual of course :-)

Anyone been there before?

Accommodation booked for Friday and Saturday - only ever done the Saturday before so exciting... Don't think the liver and wallet could manage 3 nights although at 300 capacity the Moth Club could be fantastic.
Next challenge is getting tickets sorted on Wednesday. I'm back to back with meetings so I may need to trust my daughter with my credit card.
To be honest I don't know... Will it even sell out on the day?

Are there any lady THS fans heading to this show together? American woman here, thinking about going it alone, but I've never been to London and it'd sure be nice to make some new friends to stay with or split a room with ...

Anyone got tips on affordable accommodation? Previously I've stayed at premier Inn hub kings cross, tiny ensuite rooms but new and good value (previously around £45 per night but prices currently higher), where are others staying?

The Moth Club is in Hackney, a short walk from Oslo if you were there a couple of years back. You go down Mare Street away from Hackney Central station towards the Picturehouse cinema and it's down a side street on the left. It looks like a battered old pub...because that's basically what it is.
I like the place. It has a good vibe. But even by weekender Sunday night standards it is small. I mean really small – the kind of place you see acts just starting out or making their comebacks. It makes Bush Hall look like Brixton Aacdemy.
It's got some large square seating booths over on one side and then it's just a long narrow pub bar. There's barely a stage at the front. And because it's kind of flat and narrow, for such a small space you can get a surpsingly poor view even while you're not far back.
I could see it working really well for a Steady Craig solo show. But it's going to be interesting to see thow they manage this.
Could be fun, the more I think of it. But I reckon the Lexington has been the best Sunday night venue.

Completely agree that the Lexington has been the best so far but I like the “barely a stage” bit. Sounds intense and lots of fun.

Travelodge in Kings Cross is £49 for the Friday & Saturday mate. I've not stayed there before but booked this time. Perfectly alright for two days when you are out most of the time I'd imagine. There's a bar. It'll be clean. No dead cats in the corner of the room. Two stops on the tube from Camden. It'll do. Sunday there's a Travelodge near the venue. Stayed on night 3 in 2019 for the Oslo show. Hopefully the bar stays open after the show because Sunday night can be tough to find a pub afterwards! Bush hall in 20' we couldn't find a pub at all. It's £35 for the Sunday Moth hall show. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info bigginswayne. I've had information from mates today that have said it's small (300 capacity?) and will be challenging. To be honest the Sunday night show never makes it breaks the weekend for me. It's a bonus. If it's good then it rounds off the weekend beautifully, if the venue sucks them whatever man. Electric ballroom is always good, we've got that first and foremost. If I had my way they'd just play a third show there. Oslo sucked for me, Bush hall was great. The "poor view even not far back" sounds fucked up. Still, it is what it is. Nice to going anywhere after the 18 months we've all had ain't it? 😃

Completely agree that the Lexington has been the best so far but I like the “barely a stage” bit. Sounds intense and lots of fun. I only hear good things about the Lexington, that was back when they would add a Sunday show, thankfully now they announce all three shoes, I missed that because I had a 9am meeting on the Monday in Newcastle. If I knew in advance how good that show would be I would have fucked that meeting off. But I didn't. To my eternal shame I missed it. A life lesson there Bob. Never bail on a Hold Steady gig that you can get to with a bit of rearranging. I won't make that mistake again.🤔

I think the Lexington one is more about the day and everything that unfolded that makes it for me. I’d had a nightmare day moving from Camden to Victoria then going back to Islington and then back to Victoria. When I was halfway to Islington on the tube my left shoe fell apart and I waddled the rest of the way to the venue. Once inside the sound man gave me some gaffer tape to temporarily repair my shoe, the band were fantastic and I had a pint downstairs to gather myself. I’d then missed the last bus back to Victoria but ended up with an Uber with the loveliest Indian driver who had been a tool maker and chef in the next town to me in the Welsh valleys. Once we dropped the other guy in the pool off we pulled over, reminisced, had a smoke and then he got me back to the Easyhotel. Once in a lifetime memories. And the end of the show was mind blowingly good. We also got Sweet Payne in the setlist that night because Michael Hann had requested it. Give him a shout out seeing as everyone is moaning about how hard his quizzes are! 😂

Nice Lexington story Tbob. You can't overstate the importance of reliable shoes can you?😀
I'll be skipping the quiz personally, difficult or easy questions. To be honest the sound check is just catching up with people and having a photo. If it weren't for the wife insisting on going to one I wouldn't bother at all. There's only so many times you can hear "when are going to play my town?" then fill in the blank, wherever the questioners from! Craig has more patience than me. 😂

I'm seriously considering making the trek from the West Coast of Canada for this. Can anyone share a bit more insight about the quiz event? That sort of thing usually isn't my scene. For context, I did the soundcheck at the Brooklyn Bowl once, and I enjoyed it somewhat BECAUSE it was kind of awkward, if that makes sense?

Which reminds me of the only time I got the fourth in a sequence after one clue Carlisle answers on a postcard.
