I'm really looking forward to going to Massive Nights this fall. Sadly, none of my friends are Hold Steady fans. Is there anyone here I can go with?

I'm in Brooklyn and have every intention of hitting up all four nights this year, probably with a buddy or two of mine. Would definitely be down to grab a beer or whatever and shoot the shit with you beforehand. Great thing about a THS show is that even if you arrive without friends, you won't leave that way.

Don't let going alone put you off.
I went to Brooklyn in 2019 on my own (?? this last time it was held with fans anyway) and had a great time, met loads of wonderful people who I'm still in touch with.

I've gone alone as well, but it's a lot easier to spend the hours of waiting for the band to take the stage if you have people to talk to.

I don't think I'll be able to go this year. A little too much uncertainty on all levels. But I have hopes for 2022!
Anyway, I've been to a Massive Nights show all by myself, and had the time of my life. Especially early on, the crown are usually super nice. Walk up near the stage before the opening band starts off, and I'll pretty much guarantee you that people will respons positively if you approach them.

I've had a great time when I've gone to THS shows alone, although I usually end up drinking too much. The worst was when my friend bailed last minute (long story...he showed up at the airport without his passport...did he do so intentionally to get out of going, or was it an honest mistake? I'll never know) right before my cross-country red-eye to JFK, followed by a drive to Asbury Park for the THS/DBT double-bill Friday night. Because I was alone with nothing to do, I was drinking in the sun on the boardwalk by noon and by the time the show started that night I was a wreck. The lack of sleep plus the hangover made the Saturday trek from Asbury Park-->Manhattan-->Long Island to see THS/DBT again that night a bataan death march, But, no regrets.

Larry, don't feel any hesitancy about going alone mate, The Unified scene people are the most approachable fans I've ever seen. I suggest you go to one of the sound checks. It's a great place to meet new friends. If the sound check isn't for you you'll still find people to hang with. I come from England every year for Massive Nights and have met new friends every time. If you want to hang with us, get in touch by all means and I'll tell you out schedule for bars, sound checks etc. You'll have a blast, don't sweat it.
Side issue here anyone? The dates should be December 1st thru the 4th shouldn't it? Wednesday thru Saturday? That'll be fixed won't it? That schedule is Tuesday to Friday! Only a big deal of you are booking flights soon. If anyone knows anything it would be appreciated.

Was hoping this year would be the year I finally made it to Brooklyn but 2022 is pencilled in and gives me more time to save so all good. As others have said though Larry, don’t worry about going on your own. I did The Weekender on my own last year and it’s such a great community, you’ll have a blast!

Saw Craig and Tad last night at Dimmer Twins show. CF confirmed December 1-4. Expect an announcement 30 days or so.

Y'all got the email, right? We did. I did anyway. The thought of the possibility of having to wear a mask at a rock concert kind of gives me mixed emotions. Other than that I'm excited.

(Assuming you're coming from Europe) Fairly sure there's no access for Irish people to the US at the moment anyway.
