March 8th from London and 9-14-18 from Toronto. Not sure which one is better yet, but glad the band is back in the holiday habit of dropping these. holdsteady.bandcamp.com/

The Nashville release was a nice holiday surprise. That was a great show and I’m pumped to relive it.

Amazing that they keep dropping these. There used to be so many great bootlegs out there in 2007-08-09, and to have recordings of the songs from the past ten years too is really exciting.
There were times when I listened a lot more to gritty live recordings than the actual albums, to the point where those small changes both Craig and the band did to the songs, became the norm. While mp3s never catch the euphoria of being in the room, it certainly shows a large part of the catalog in a different light.

I still listen to them lol - could not agree more with what you're saying. right on.

The London one from last year is particularly incendiary... it's stacked with hits! I'm with you too muzz, there's stuff I love live like going straight into Hot Soft Light after Constructive Summer and the little offbeat catches Tad and Bobby worked out in Sequestered... also, loving how Craig now says "oh shit! Party Pit!" quite a lot.

A small list of the live stuff that differs from the albums:
- "It was cocksucking summer" - "...I only knew it was a movement of Jaaaaaah people" - "Let's cause some trouble here!" - "...kissed in your car and we fucked in your church" - "Naughty, naughty Northside" - "John's last CD" -> "John's second to last CD" -> "The Sunset Tree"

The repeat of “lord to be 33 forever” before the outro of Stevie Nix is the little live flourish I miss the most on the record

the lyrical changes are cool, but my favorite thing about all of these is hearing how Tad, Steve, and Franz find space in the arrangement for the three of them. Tasteful players all. I hope they eventually release everything that's gotten a six-piece play on one of these.

The lyrics stuff just reminded me how bootlegs were my main exposure to Hold Steady for quite some time in the early 2010s. After Franz had left, but before Steve became the force he is by now. And I really love how they all point out that Steve have made Tad and Franz better players as well, leaving more room for them to do what they do best.

My greatest wish is that they'll put out a vinyl compilation of highlights live - or just one show - they are all incredible

My greatest wish is that they'll put out a vinyl compilation of highlights live - or just one show - they are all incredible I think they could easily sell out 500 copies if they offered a vinyl version of, say, the two shows at Electric Ballroom. Just offer it along with the tickets, and promise a record a few months down the line.

I bought London. Nice Soundboard. Not really interested in audience shows. I've got plenty of that shit.
