Craig had a Instastory after the Brighton gig where he posted a post from another user talking about this message board. Something like "We've learned Hold Steady has it's own message board". Was this related to anything Craig said on stage?

Ashamed to say I can’t remember the name of the lovely woman who played the piano even after drinking with her and Mr.Finn until the wee hours.... she didn’t mention being a parishioner- when I asked how her playing came about she said she just asked Craig.

Great stuff. Has anyone found the venues listed anywhere? I’ll be going to Bristol regardless but I’m hoping he plays the Thekla. Damn, I love that venue/boat.

In my excitement I only just noticed venue and ticket details to be announced soon. Why tease that?!

That's great news and what a step-up from the living room tour!
I'm in for Glasgow...

My thoughts today go out to the family and friends of Her's, who have died in a car crash on tour in the States. A couple of years ago, when Craig did his house tour in the UK, my friend Laura and I put on a one-off show at Ramsgate Music Hall on Easter Sunday. We liked Her's; they were on tour in the UK and had a day off in the vicinity. Se we asked them to open for him. They were completely different: a bonkersly psychedelic poppy duo, and it was not a natural match. But they won over everyone by their complete commitment to communicating their happiness. They finished the set playing in the middle of the floor, which was quite the achievement in a room that small. We did that show on a not-for-profit basis, and told Craig we wanted to pay Her's properly. He was happy to do a split of the door that meant he got less than he might have expected, and the look of joy on the faces of the two guys from Her's when they realised they'd have enough money to eat something decent and maybe even stay in a hotel was a wonder in itself. They were so in love with making music. I'm shocked that they're gone.

I’m happy with the Exchange in Bristol. Not quite the Thekla but an intimate, independently run venue with a great pub next door.

I probably need to travel during a weekend, and right now Berlin seems like the only realistic possibility. But I might have to sit this one out.

I’ve been checking out their YouTube videos and am intending to buy some stuff soon. However I can’t see me making the Exchange gig unfortunately. I’m pretty busy in May with a couple of gigs on the Manics’ tour and a rearranged J Mascis show in Bristol so travelling over the (now free!) Severn Bridge for another band is a bridge too far on my budget. Shame. Hopefully they’ll come back over soon.

Happy to get a Friday gig and not have to travel too far. An hour on the train is easily done and can get home afterwards, winning!

Craig did a phone interview on Newstalk, an Irish radio station last night. You can listen back on the player. Starts about 20 mins in. Tom Dunne show

Sunday nights gig was a cracker. Club was nearly at capacity and the sound was perfect. Laura Stevenson was great too
