According to Bandcamp, Craig Finn is in the UK in February. I've got an email about shows in Bath and Cardiff so assume there's some kind of tour. I'm heading to Bath (Komedia)- anyone else on here interested?

EDIT: turns out it's the Brian Fallon tour with Craig supporting. Awesome!

That’s me booked for Cardiff too. I’m extremely happy that the tour is coming to the U.K., and most importantly, Wales! I’ve never seen a THS or Craig show in South Wales and, while I may be wrong, I don’t think they have visited since they supported Counting Crows in the Cardiff Arena back in 2009, with the last headline show being at Cardiff’s Point in August 2007. I didn’t make that because I was at Reading Festival that weekend where on the Sunday I saw them for the very first time. Stoked!

Sad to see some of these shows being sold out so quick. Nice for Craig, I guess, a bit of a bummer to me. I had originally planned for the Brighton show. Now I might do Munich instead.

I’m planning on going to the Munich show. It’s my 40th birthday that day and I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate it!

It's a pretty decent chance I will.

Got tickets for a Manchester date. Very pleased with this. In the space of about 12 months to get to see a full Hold Steady show (w/Franz!) in London, and Gaslight play the 59 Sound in full, and Brian Fallon and Craig doing something more quiet is a pretty good run of gigs.

So was anyone at the Newcastle show? Would love to hear some reports and see some setlist the next week.

I had a great time at the Manchester show last night. I might be forgetting a song, but from memory Craig's setlist was something like this:
Maggie Magazines Preludes Magic Marker Tangletown Newmyer's Roof Punk Is Not A Fair Fight
Craig was on for a decent amount of time - I'd guess 45 minutes or so. It's always potentially an issue for an opening act (especially playing acoustic) that the crowd might just talk through things but everyone seemed to be really soaking it in. The couple of THS mentions got big cheers from the crowd too. It's interesting to see Craig telling personal stories between songs - I don't know if he's always done this or perhaps it's something that came about more from the living room tours. Either way, it's something I really enjoy. Hearing him talk about things like writing Magazines and Preludes was a real joy for me. I'd love to see him do an old fashioned VH1 Storytellers style show one day where he talks about songs from across his catalogue.
Magic Marker sounded like a real beauty from the first listen too.
I really enjoyed Brian's set as well. He played a few gems I wouldn't have expected (Goodnight Irene, Wherefore Art Thou). Things flowed together the whole evening too. I used to go out to see Chuck Ragan's Revival Tours (I think Craig and Brian both played on different ones) and it almost felt a bit like that.

The show in Munich was really, really good. Quite impressing how full and well rounded Craig sounded just accompanied by his guitar. Good stuff.
I can't remember the exact sequence, but he played:
Maggie Magazines Preludes Blankets Newmyer's Roof Magic Marker Punk's Not A Fair Fight Certain Songs

Forgot to turn my international roaming on, and it took 48 hours for me to do anything pretty much. Have stayed in Germany and am going to the Hamburg show tomorrow night as well now. Give me a shout if you are. If not, maybe catch you at the weekender in London.

I'm back in Norway and brought a flu with me. So now I'm in that proud position where everyone at my work know I drank beer for 36 hours straight this weekend, and now I'm not showing up. Great! Enjoy Hamburg! I would love to catch another show, but happy I got to see at least one. And I'll be at all London shows, so maybe we jump into each other. We're a small norwegian delegation, so just tap me on my shoulder if you hear some norse words.

Craig on fine form tonight - his singing and guitar playing continue to hit new heights. Lots more talking / story telling than I've seen before (solo), went down well with a crowd that were there to see Brian Fallon.
