The new Frank Turner album is really, really good. I actually think it's the best he's ever done. Everything is built on the same formula as before, but it's like he does everything sharper, clearer and more focused. At times he plays it out like a Liam Gallagher of folk, on other tracks he's as close to a british Craig Finn as he'd ever been. Some of the songs are almost comically anthemic and slogan based, but somehow it works perfectly well. I guess it helps knowing what a genuinely nice guy Frank Turner is - you know he actually means it.
My current favourite is Love Forty Down, and how it goes into Silent Key, another highlight.

This record was absolutely the unapologetic anthem record I was hoping for. Silent Key is my favorite song he's ever done.

we like anthemic and slogan-based around here.
I think I like the previous record more, but this one has some bangers. I'd like to see him live.

we like anthemic and slogan-based around here. And the same goes for me. I wasn't being critical, I'm more amused of how extremely and explicit anthemic the whole record is, and how Frank Turner gets away with it. It's an achievement in itself.

I like it. A couple of songs make me roll my eyes a bit. I do think Frank has potential to write songs that are a lot better than this. I'd like to see him write some more fiction... I know he's a huge fan of The Weakerthans and THS. Song For Josh is incredible though, although it's not a song I really want to listen to too often.

Also caught him at his album release show, and he is very good live. A little too "entertainer-y" for me, if that makes any sense, but it was a great show.

Looks like he's coming through the Midwest in May.

I saw Frank Turner at the 930 Club in June of 2014. The thing with Frank I feel like I'm being sung at, instead of sung to, if that makes any sense.

The Frank Turner show did not disappoint, and the Missus really enjoyed it too. She digs the high energy.
