Kinda odd Wilco drops a FREE album the day before Jason Isbell's new album "Something More Than FREE" hits the stores tomorrow.
I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of Jason's record about a month ago via the radio station I do work for. I am still working through it and trying not to compare it to "Southeastern" which may end up being his career masterpiece although I think he is in this for the very long haul. That being said, at least 5 or 6 of the "Something" songs would fit seamlessly on "Southeastern" and the other tracks I am still digesting. Bottom line, this will still be in my Top 5 at the end of the year. The man can do no wrong in my book.
Now to sort through the Wilco album. Beforehand, as I load it into my iTunes library, I am suspiciously agreeing with Jeff Tweedy's own quote about the free release "Well, the biggest reason, and I'm not sure we even need any others, is that it felt like it would be fun." The "not sure we even need any others" rings true as I see the last two added to my collection were the forgettable "The Whole Love" and "Wilco (the Album)".
Free is good though. I like free with permission.

Loving the single - looking forward to this (free!) tomorrow.
Also some UK dates - Bristol anyone?

I'm definitely going to see the Isbell show in Bristol. Loving the new album and Southeastern was my favourite album of 2013. He's going from strength to strength of late.

I discovered the albums being out on the same morning. Being home with a newborn child, it was pretty perfect.
I love the Isbell album. Really great stuff. Wilco is good as well. It sounds iike an "unimportant" album - and I mean that in a good way. It just seems like they got togheter and recorded some decent songs, and put it out. I like it!
